Dcs using all VRAM

hazzer

Recommended Posts

Hi, recently when playing dcs after a short while I get a graphical bug where textures are blocky or see through. After looking around I noticed on the ctrl pause break overlay that this only happens when the memory has run out. I thought this was very strange as it has only just started happening recently and I have a gtx 970

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

Hi mate,

This is quite unusual to be honest. I have a gtx970 myself and the vram usage does not go above 2gigs. What cpu do you have? Are you running latest drivers?

Thanks.

My 2Gb GTX 770 OC regularly runs out of VRAM and then stutters. I primarily play online.

I am looking at upgrading to a GTX 970 for the extra 1.5Gb of VRAM.

Doss the in game counted show VRAM usage, I thought it just showed RAM usage. I use MSI afterburner to monitor VRAM usage in game. Could be worth a try.

I had the same problem with my GTX760 (2gb), I upgraded to a 970 and it sits around 3.5gb vram usage. How many many screens are you running? Resolution?

I have an Intel 4690k, the drivers are up to date.

I usually play in multiplayer if that makes a difference

I have attached screenshots of my gpu when playing and when not

the second screenshot shows like hundreds of gigs of vram... there is something wrong with the drivers I think. maybe trying to make a fresh install?

For those with 970's using 3.5Gb of VRAM are you getting stuttering as it sounds like all of your card's VRAM is being used up.

I have noticed that multiplayer uses more VRAM than single player.

Good to hear as I will being buying one shortly. Unfortunately the 980 is outside my budget. It would be great if a future dcs makes the move to DirectX 12 as it double the available VRAM when using SLI.

Already did a fresh install before posting, it made no difference

Edit: That is the wrong screenshot, it only looked like that after I closed dcs, I must have saved the wrong one but I remember it being near to or at 4000mb

So can no one think of why this is happening? It's strange, it has only started happening recently. I would have blamed windows 10 for it, but it happened the first time just before I installed windows 10.
