Model Helper Points (Connectors)

Recommended Posts

Ok, thanks... let me know!

unfortunately, i was not prosper in the thing, so I had to ask Hungaro  - i saw contrails come out from right place but i could not change the position of that place

he wrote, i (we) should use fires_pos [8] and [9] codes for contrail positions of twin engine aircrafts - same with both connectors and mods folder lua code

and fires_pos [8], [9], [10], [11] for aircrafts with 4 engines

but we should use negative sign (opposite) for horizontal+lateral position adjustment - opposite than what we used at engine_nozzle_pos or ATERBURN connector pos - i think that is the Z axis ;)

Not to revive an old thread,

But it seems some of the newer models have new Connectors, that are yellow, and not the same as the Hot Pink Ones in the EDM Viewer...

Anyone know how those are set?

Hey guys, thank you for all informations in this thread! I've a little question about those light sources dummies, how we are suppose to set them? They are just changing cause of the name or they have special attribute? Did they have an impact on the light diffusion in the game? I've note since the last version of DCS, i've some strange light reflection on my model. In some model, i've see some red dummies? Someone know what are those?

Thank you for your help

you have un-used lights in your lights data block w/ no connectors so they render at 0,0,0.

AFTERBURN_001, 002, 003, 004

Point helpers on the model with name AFTERBURN_001, AFTERBURN_002, etc, etc. work to override the lua position settings. However, thus far, player aircraft appear limited to only two contrails! This sucks, but for now the best we can do I guess. So, you can have the inner engines as 001, and 002. The outer engines will be 003 and 004. Now the AI aircraft looks good. Player aircraft missing two contrails, but at least is symmetrical. Please if you know a way to get around this, I'm working on a 4 engine mod. Thanks!

Thanks Skatezilla

Interesting, that's what Blaze said also. I gave it the old solid try, and my results suggest that using INVERS_00# reverts back to the engine_nozzles attribute in the airplane.lua This really leans toward AFTERBURN_00# being the proper helper point name. You can probably detect my effort to avoid saying anything definitive. Thanks for the tip, just wanted to let you know the results on my end. I think 4 engine player aircraft, weren't meant to be! Although, I do wonder about hiding a custom smoker generator somehow. Still, my amateur strengths do not include lua scripting, so I'll likely be moving on to another unrelated task.

It maybe a Human SFM limitation, I will try to make a quick 4 engine aircraft this week if I get time.

For Carrier Aircraft (Su-33, USN etc)

Connector: "hook_point" is used to set connection of hook to arresting cable.

Petty sure if I go through DLLs there's a connector for shuttle link

Here is a basic list of some that I have found out on my own, and I encourage any others who have gathered some knowledge on them to post them here to make a sort of directory. Some are standard across all models, and some are model-specific, while others are custom to the user's naming preference when creating a model.

BANO_0/1/2 - controls the flood of the white, red and green lights respectively.

RESERV/0/1/2_BANO_0/1/2 - controls flood of secondary lights.

RED_BEACON - controls position of rotating beacon.

RESERV_RED_BEACON - controls position of secondary beacon.

MAIN_SPOT_PTR - positions flood of main landing light.

RESERV_SPOT_PTR - positions flood of secondary landing light.

FARA_3 - positions flood of third landing light.

Gun_point - controls the position of the gun.

Pylon1/2/3/etc - controls the coordinates and rotation of the pylons.

Point-probe-M/M01 - controls contact position for refuel probe (Su-33 only maybe, didn't work for F-15 FM).

AIR_REFUELING_RECEPTACLE - controls air refueling probe contact point (also in code).

DUST_WHEEL_001/002/003 - controls the location of touchdown dust for main, left and right wheels.

FLOW_001/002 - controls the positon of the left and right wingtip vapor condensation (also in code).

AFTERBURN_001/002 - controls the location of left and right FORSAG afterburner model I think (also in code).

FUEL_JETTISON_001/002 - controls the location of left and right fuel dump effect.

INVERS_001/002 - controls position of contrail effects (also in code).

FLARE_DISPENSER_1/2 - controls position of flare release position (also in code).

are all of these connectors up to date ?

it seems that the flare_dispenser_1/2 does'nt work anymore 😞

did the name changed ?
