Welcome Ugra Media

It's a shame that they're the ones doing Syria, it's one of the most interesting maps ever in terms of multi-faction dynamics, modern-day and past conflict re-enactments and terrain (and been visting Beirut recently) , but damn if I will touch it with a ten-foot pole after the Normandy "quality".

Apparently "we will fix it after the next module" is the norm now. Not a fan.

Just to be objective, Studencheskaya ulitsca (or street) doesn't necessary mean that it's university building or that it's somehow related to students.

The same page also states that they participated in RFT 2011-2013 resulting in financing of 90 millions of rubles, also the guy who is stated as their manager of software engineering department: Alsynbaev Kamil Salikhovich has a doctor degree in applied physics and math and somehow related to Ugorskiy IT Research Institute which in particular works on geospatial data and software.

So an academic then . . ?

We're talking about poor customer service/interaction in this thread. This extra "objectivity" sounds more like an additional explanation of why they're so poor at it.

On the product-technical side, being GIS specialists makes some of the errors even more egregious.

Oh come on - don't go being reasonable - you're spoiling all the fun of people that have waited months and months to complain about something

Waiting months and months?

Don't go being unreasonable.

ED's customers have been reporting bugs and issues with this product for nearly two years now. Constantly.

The Normandy map has been patched once since the 2.5 Release over a year ago and barely scratched the surface of the issues this thing has. Still, early access and not even a single comment from their part on it.

This is the prime example of bad customer treatment. So bear with us, if we dare to complain about anything here.

I didn't have intention to justify Ugra-Media devs or question critics of Normandy map - it obviously has a lot of issues and most of user complains are reasonable, just wanted to provide more info. In fact I don't even have Normandy map. I'd also like to see some feedback from Ugra-Media devs (even if it's posted on russian part of the forum only).

Waiting months and months?

No, this:

Well given that Ugra media is most likely some students and a lecturer running their operation from a polytech, I am not surprised that they don't have much of a customer-service ethic.

ED should not have worked with them in the first place if they knew Ugra could not deliver. So it's ED's fault too that these things happen. End of discussion.

I am very much looking forward to the Syria map.

Not sure why people have a hard time giving Ugra the benefit of doubt, realizing that 3rd party devs are able to improve upon their first efforts based on "lessons learned" and apply that to their new map project? Isn't that how progress is made?

The map is impressive, but ...

Today I am going to spend most of my time finding out if the problems with the infantry are unique to Syria or are they general problems. The transport helicopter missions are pretty useless at the moment because the infantry does not behave according to their assignment.

Even if your assumptions are correct... so what?

Maybe they don't have two pennies to rub together. Maybe they are starving students with none of daddy's money to buy them BMW's... and are trying to start a successful business while also doing school workload.  They might not have even had the money to buy computers themselves! They might be using the school's computers.

You might think that's "cheap cheap cheap"... but to me that demonstrates perceverence in the face of obstacles and adversity. Businesses don't succeed just because they spend lots of money... spending is not always "investment". But spending might not have even been an available option to this team. To me that makes it more impressive, to accomplish this product!

I don't believe ED would care too much about how much or how little Ugra feels about spending or investing, I think both companies ARE focused on a quality product.

So with the location of that polytech school being much closer to Kazakstan than to Moscow (Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia)... I'm guessing that some of my  assumptions might be correct. They likely don't have much money, which makes their Syria map even more impressive to me!

Well, maybe with the success of the Syria map, maybe they do have a bit of money now!

I always wonder with this kind of threads… what now?? You all bashing, Ugra here but any other third party or ED themselves on any other forum section any day, what now? Don't you have anything to say now? I mean, it wasn't to be finished ever, they are unable to deliver, it's probably cancelled and they say nothing… now it's there, it's almost finished, it's frigging awesome, Cyprus (not though at first) is there as a bonus you all don't even deserve, we've had already a patch to Normandy and I hope more to come, what now?? It only took time… now what… anybody changed their minds? don't you say a thing now? "Thanks, sorry I was behaving like 5yo with this" perhaps? Nothing?? 🤔
