crousti
Why there is no crew in i.e B-17 it will be geat and more immersive to see them? any idea ? or some one with skill could do it:pilotfly:
Silver_Dragon
Not implemented and actually has unknown if ED has some plans to add a crew on them or others bombers.
Emmy
It’s ridiculous that the -17s are ghost ships. IronJockel
At this point everything, apart from the 3d model, is ridiculous about the B17. Damage model, gunners with laser guided accuracy and massive FPS drops when performing strategic bombing. We're sadly a long way from a releasable state of the asset pack. The "updates" from ED are less than comforting too. . we occasionally see a new ground vehicle model (about once per quarter) but we haven't seen a new aicraft in the pack since the B17 - and the B17 itself is far from being release-quality IMO, for all the reasons you identify. The few "WW2" online servers are using non-WW2 assets and maps just to stay afloat it seems. Silver_Dragon
Remember ED has working on the Fw-190A-8/F, P-47 and Mosquito, surely the "air" 3D modelers has centred on them, of course, expected see new pics and updates of the old "in progress" AI models. amazingme
Unless ED will charge us monthly, all of its modules will become abandonware in the end.. It's called entropy.. 71st_AH Rob
I think a significant part of the problem is that ED is not making the WWII Assets Pack, but a very busy 3rd Party who have moved on to the Syrian Map. Which must be consuming significant 3d modeling resources. I think we will see the Syrian Map before we have the WWII Assets Pack finished. DD_Fenrir
I assumed the WW2 Air Assets were awaiting the revised damage model prior to inclusion. For this reason also is why the B-17 has had no update to it's DM; why waste man-hours fudging old tech if the revised tech is WiP? As for lack of crew? It's cosmetic, and ergo low priority; we've seen these types of bugs wait many many months for fixing, and perhaps, rightfully so? It's frustrating but their argument will be: if you're flying the game - which is what 99% of users are doing - you're in the cockpit of a completely different aircraft and ergo you should be busy enough with the tasks demanded of your mission at hand to not really notice at 200+ mph that the B-17 crews are missing. And they have a point. Machinima-ists amongst us, and those that revell in external view DCS-porns may be piqued but it really is nuisance value only. Would it be nice to see a fix? Sure. Not gonna spoil 90% of users day though. As for gunners? That's a big can o'worms right there! Doesn't seem any worse than the competition, in which I can have my fighter de-winged by a half second burst of 12.7mm whilst crossing at high speed, high AoT. However, it's forever been a bone of contention throughout the history of combat flight sims, with bomber-boys claiming the glamour boys have it too easy and the fighter-jocks saying that the AI gunnery is too OP. Currently a force of AI 109s or 190s can mince a formation of -17s in short order, whilst admittedly taking losses. Seems not so far fetched to me. IronJockel
When a tail gunner can roast the engine of a fighter diving away at 500 kph in the opposite flight path after a head one pass, I call BS. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Silver_Dragon
It must take a lot of 3D resources to make sand. "Make Sand" has builder by the Map team, building Crew has maked by the 3D modeling team, and has more problematic, remember the lack of infantry on DCS. As similarly to build a pilot, but multiply by 10.
