Yes. Block 70 = F-16V. Greece,Bulgaria,Slovakia first three

Like all F-16 upgrades and modification this is also be fill with confusion. F-16V will not only be newly built "block 70" but upgraded older blocks as well. ROCAF is calling their F-16A block 20 upgrade as F-16V.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

That's right. The Greece F16 will be "only" upgraded to Block70. Newbuilt ones will be ours and Bulgarian. But we have to wait, until the A/C for Oman will be produced :pilotfly:

Well, the 16V seems to be a bridge between 4th and 5th gens to some extent. Why spend money on something that does things only marginally better than existing F-16's?

Because its not true. F-16V blk.70/72 will be way better than blk.50/52. It will be almost like F-35.

Hi there,

sorry if this has been asked before.

Does the F-16 we get also feature a terrain avoidance radar mode,

which we could use at least for manual flight, like in the Viggen and A-4?

I'm not talking about the TFR, I sadly know its not going to happen, as the FLIR isn't.

As I understand, such a mode is "planned" for the F-18.

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3285514&postcount=13

Sensors:

  • A/A radar with TWS, SCAN RAID, AZ/EL
  • A/G radar with MAP, EXP1, EXP2, EXP3, SEA, GMT, PVU, AGR, IRA, and TA
  • AN/ASQ-228 ATFLIR Targeting Pod
  • Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS)
  • Link-16
  • AWW-13 Datalink Pod
  • NVGs

Other question:

What else is there to be expected as in comparison to this entire list of features for the Hornet?

What weapons could there be, except from the ones already mentioned in the sticky thread.

AFAIK, The APG-68V5 did not have terrain avoidance mode in the USAF F-16 block 50 circa 2007 after CCIP.
