VR Incompatibility

It means that VR did not exist when Combined Arms was created, so it was not designed for it and it doesn't work very well. If you buy it, don't plan on using it in VR. That's pretty much the case with EVERY game made outside the last few years, btw, and even many new ones.

Your game won't crash.... you can have CA installed and run everything else as you would normally. VR just won't work when you wanna try it with Combined Arms.

To be honest, VR is only going to be a handicap for what CA is anyway (at least for now), so I can see why it is not VR supported

Everybody gotta be offended and take it personally now-a-days

Gosh, I was hopping to see the vehicles interiors... and fully clickable too! Yea I know it is little bit of stretch, but fully clickable and simulated Panzer or Tiger... With proper multi crew support :D One can dream, cannot?

To live this experience, you must have Tank Crew. It's great.

Nah - it used to work fine. Than some update broke it and now they have no plans to fix it.

That's the truth.

After that they added that line in the description "Not VR supported"

A tad bit too late for us who bought it and enjoyed it before this patch broke it.

How is it broken you ask?

When you take controll of a vehicle - there is a black "mask" on your screen - with a small hole you can see through. the hole is not centered, and your crosshairs doesnt line up.

Worse yet, your head movements are inverted.

Move your head left, you turn right and vice versa

Move your head down, and you move up, and vice versa.

Instantanous neausea guaranteed.

Perfect. That it what I was asking for. Thank you Sir!

Don't get me wrong.

I still concider CA one of DCS "Essentials"

Controling units on the map and all that jazz is so cool and helpful and makes your missions much more dynamic (without tons and tons of scripting and triggers)

And you can still opt to start the game with VR off and have fun with some tanks and stuff.

But it's very frustrating that it worked before - they broke it and then just went like "to hell with it"

Well, I worked for 10 years of my life as a developer, and from past experience I can tell you that if developer leave some tides untied, it is in general because of 3 things. 1st - they run out of money, which is not the ED case, 2nd - the project is dead/finished, like they stop working on it, which is not our case and finaly 3rd - there is something cooking or going to, they just did not started to work on it and do not want to spend time/monay creating temporary solutions...

Based on the pictures of they are scanning hands etc. I'm speculating (wild guessing) that they are wokring on some better ground units, which might come with the vehicles interiors later... I king hope that they simply want to do all sorts of stuff, like tanks, submarines etc... That would be really cool, wouln't be?

there is the possibility that it didnt sell well enough to warrant further development- programmer hours could be allocated to which modules are more widely adopted.

kinda why i imagine ns430 is in vr for only two aircraft, and yak52 is in the state its in- low market penetration = low priority

Well, this is the DCS digital combat simulator... there is not much combat in yak5, so go figure... and for the ns43, I can imagine be very useful for civilian planes on very large maps (like MSFS) and without the F10, but for DCS... not sure what the idea was... maybe they needed the gps working properly for some missiles and this was just an attempt to capitalize on it or get more out of it I guess

I've had CA for a couple years. Had loads of fun driving around Nevada roads with it and setting up little convoy and air defense missions with it, in 2D. Then I got more into flying the aircraft. 2 months ago, I made the switch to VR with Rift S. Since then, I've flown the A-4E and F-18 a few hours each...it's great! Then I tried the Huey. So much fun, I've done nothing but Huey flying since.

Now, I got the idea of trying to man the guns on the Samuel Chase in VR using CA. Figuring that in 3D it might be a bit easier to aim the guns. Oh my gosh! It's unusable! It's screwed up. The terrain/scenery/the VR world moves with your head movement when it should stay put. But a HUD-like gun sight stays put, instead. Causes dizziness/motion sickness. Press 'B' for binoculars and you have a proper view with 'fixed' scenery where you can look around freely and comfortably, but the binocular frame is fixed and its function is useless. Also, it placed my position somewhere around the tops of the masts of the ship.

There is some good potential of fun operating various gun mounts on the ships for WWII air defense scenarios. I believe many of the US ships' larger AA gun mounts had "directors". I believe a twin or quad 40mm mount was aimed by a detached 'director' mount, it was slaved to the director. The 5"/38 guns could be slaved to a radar director mount. The Samuel Chase does not have these, but it appears to have 50-cal machine guns in place of what I think should be director positions for the twin 40mm mount(s). Lookin at real photos of USS Samuel Chase APA-26, it had a twin 40mm mount on the bow and stern, with 3-inch mounts to each side. Each 40mm mount had a single director above and behind it. The rest of the guns appeared to be twin 20mm mounts in various location. More impressive would be the AI hoisting landing craft over the side to embark and transport the Marines for amphibious assault ashore.

If only someone would make a set of US Navy WWII fast-carrier battle group ships. A Fletcher-class (or similar) destroyer, a Cleveland-class light cruiser, a North Carolina- and/or South Dakota-class battleship (ironically the main air defense units of these battle groups), and an Essex- and/or Yorktown-class aircraft carrier. The fast-carrier battle groups would go 25 to 30 knots and deliver the airstrikes. The escort carriers and old, slow battleships (West Virginia, California, Nevada, etc.) escorted the amphibious battle group ships, like the Samuel Chase and LST's, and provided shore bombardment and fire support.

Sounds like a possible full scale competitor for another popular combat title that also uses the module schema (I won't say the name....you know why)

The fan base for 'The Other Popular Title' have also been speculating on full vr support, but it seems well behind the curve at this point.

Some say that all men should get in touch with their 'Feminine' side.

When I finally got in touch with mine, she turned out to be a Crazy Cat Lady.

Push insert to switch to 3rd person view of vehicle, can then use CA.

It is ludicrous though that something such as view binding cannot be sorted with just the reverse of the axis - i mean how hard can it be seriously.

Always amazed me ED's inability to sort out simple problems and easy wins.

Absolute shambles given VR is the future but already well adopted by the community in the present.

Hello guys,

With this module, there is note in the shop item description

VR Support not currently available for this module.

Do anybody know what excatly that means? Like game will crash whne I istall it and turon of VR or something? Thank you...

it won't crash but the sight is messed up so you can't hit a darn thing. If they fixed the sight it would be freaking awesome. VR is one of the reasons I want to see combined arms II
