Cockpit shot of F-104-ASAM in the last flight of Italian Air Force:

It reached Mach 2.3, then caution light SLOW appeared to remember that the compressor inlet temperature is near a critical value :D

Like what we should see for the AV-8B NA with the future introduction of the Plus variant, Razbam can introduce multiple variants of the 104 in this way:

F-104G: used in multiple countries, moreover it registered combat kills over the Strait of Taiwan against chinese Mig-19

TF-104G: multi-crew with instructor mode

F-104S ASA: powerful variant with GE-19 and EAID, still multi-role capabilities retained with subvariants FB(M-61 gun) and IC (Aspide missile), 9 attach points, new radar (FIAR R-21G/M1 Setter) with look-down/shoot-down capability.

Regarding the latest ASA-M, I don't think it can interest much people here: added GPS and new radio but removed the support for any bombing capability and the 3 ventral pilons: only Sidewinder/Aspide were allowed on this version.

Some interesting info here:

(sadly photobucket doesn't give access to the images...)

A late model of the F-104 would be enough for me. I'm more interested in the airframe than avionics, it's a very interesting aircraft though it's known as Widow maker :P

If we do get a f104 module we will merely need to Learn it's quirks and avoid using it as a low level fighter bomber( or if you have to with greater caution) and you should be alright.

Frankly even the infamous mig21 many simmers here including myself had to get accostumed to fast landings due or it's small delta wings. I'm sure many of us mig21 drivers when we were rookies botched our first few landings by landing either to slow or a bit too fast resulting in crooked landing gears even knowing from the manual this could happen.

Spain or Norway did not have issues with their f104s compared to the Luftwaffe.

LOT of problems were attributed to a mix of rookie pilots error, not enough maintenance hours and some aircraft having engine issues.

Most of the nation's that complained about it being a widow maker were the ones that relegated it it for many ground attack duties. Low attacks especially in bad weather did not suit the f104s flight characteristics.

F104 airframe was initially designed as a high altitude fast interceptor but pressed into various fighter bomber roles. As one of the first mach 2.0 + designs in 50s it was revolutionary aircraft at it's inception.

I know strike fighter is old now and not a hardcore study SIM but the italian f104 asa ( addon coummunity content) with it's upgraded engines was a freaking rocket.

Could climb up with 90 degrees and get to 150k altitude very fast and not being anywhere near stall speed when engaged in full burners.

Not a great Turner but it was good when you used as a interceptor and used it's speed and climb rate to engage and disengage mig21s at will instead of as a "dogfighter"

With the f4e confirmed by bst I certainly welcome any possible addition of any century series fighters. Even though the f104 May not be to everyone's taste( f05 and f100 are still higher on my personal wishlist) but it certainly is a very relevant aircraft for blueforce in the cold war era.

Indeed, low level all weather strike fighter of the 70" suffered a high loss rate in training.

It was true for Mirage III E too. The crew were training for all weather tactical nuclear strike, or SEAD support for nuclear strike. Bad weather/ night low level manual flying was scary...

Mirage fanatic !

F-104G, since contributed for years to defense the airspace of many western NATO countries...

It went into service in many western NATO countries as Lockheed heavily "contributed" to make it happen ;)

Anyway, if any developer decides to make a century series aircraft, F-100 and F-105 should be on top of the priority list.

F/A-18, F-16, F-14, M-2000C, A-10C, AV-8B, AJS-37 Viggen, F-5E-3, F-86F, MiG-21bis, MiG-15bis, L-39 Albatros, C-101 Aviojet, P-51D, Spitfire LF Mk. IX, Bf 109 4-K, UH-1H, Mi-8, Ka-50, NTTR, Normandy, Persian Gulf... and not enough time to fully enjoy it all
