Interesting, generally happens the inverse, Windows turn OFF USB ports when go sleep - what can be disabled in power settings; and when wake-up give a new ID for controllers, and people complain about loose joystick settings.

Perhaps in your case a fault potentiometer in Saitek (a common thing) are send continuous signals for computer, prevent Windows to sleep. Just a guess.

Anyway have you checked in Power Setting's if sleep is not turned off?

I've seen reports of this on other forums. Not specific to Saitek, I have the same issue with Virpil and VKB items I use. Thrustmaster has also come up from time to time. Seems to be related with the Windows 2004 update, at least that's when my problem started.
