Normandy Map Discussion

Just in case anyone was in an answering mood....there's an LST and other beachable ships....can we beach them and have (script) unloading of units - the current Caucasus engine denies us this. Will that be a new engine feature?

Pleased to see the impressive list of extras.

A interesting question about WW2 units. No Halftracks or towed / Antitank artillery yet on WW2 (or DCS: W), surely can get more news in the future.

Some Interesting points:

The E-Boat and U-boats on DCS: W, Torpedo / naval mines technology finally incoming?

The Flak Searchlights, Night anti-air defence tactics and better improvements incoming?

You do realize that Normandy is going to be released onto the v2 branch and the Caucasus will still be on the v1.5 branch for a while.

pretty sure he forgets often that fact coz he uses almost always the tester version nightly - and not the release-beta-alpha versions perhaps - what all the WIP maps already have merged in it :P Caucasus-Black Sea, Hormuz, plus the "surprise" map(s) :D

Need to read the text, If you get the Normandy Map as a backer you get the asset pack as well.

But, then don't I also need to get NTTS, in order to run Normandy? Will NTTS be on sale Friday?

Thanks,

No

DCS 2 Open alpha early access is what you need, once normandy is out you download it in the module manager, if you dont have NTTR you will not need to have it also

This community can be discouraging sometimes.

I expected this response to some extent from some, I think once people step away and think it though it will be ok. And really, the response has been mostly positive, most people get it I think.

This looks absolutely stunning! You guys really nailed it. And seeing the list of potential upcoming bombers, just wow! Can't wait to make some "Final Countdown" European edition missions :)

It is quite a simple concept, it gives you choice rather than, as some people are seeing it, making you buy extra. I for one welcome choice.

I must have missed it somehow in my excited reading of the last 20 pages, but I cant find Glowing Amraams trailer on the tube, can someone give me a quick link please.

The DCS: Normandy Map and the DCS: World War II Assets Pack will be available as a 20%-off, pre-purchase bundle for $47.99. Upon release in late April 2017, the DCS: Normandy 1944 Map and DCS: World War II Assets Pack bundle will be sold for $59.99.

:)

It would make a lot more sense if the only option was the bundle. If you own one, you own both. Makes it less confusing and less of a chance to fracture the community. $60 for the map and AI units seems fair and simple. I think just about everyone will buy both anyways; I don't see why you would buy one and not the other.

Not trying to criticize, but I think it would make life a lot more simpler for everyone.

I dont agree, I can see someone buying one or the other, and 60 doesnt cover both.

Many people (I have no idea why) seem not to be interested in the WWII stuff. This way they can get the map a little cheaper. It has been mentioned that there will be some sort of "modern" mode for the map so those strange people not interested in "real" flying can use all the current assets and they are hardly likely to frequent WWII servers so I think the worries of "fracturing" the community are being overblown. I think we need to give others a bit more credit for having the intelligence to master complex modules and not being confused about which product they want to buy. Of course I could be wrong.......;)

While I'm fine with it either way they release it, I'm not sure what you're talking about, $60 is the post-release price for the combo as currently stated.

AndytotheD, ED *always* has sales. If budget is tight, and you miss the bundle, wait for one of the many sales they run.

And *no one* mentioned the Final Countdown possibility? Come on, man! :)

It's interesting to read how people feel about the pricing. When the KS started, and I read what the goal was, I plunked down $90. That's what *I* thought the value was. I don't really know what happened or how ED ended up picking up the development of it, but I for one am thankful. Otherwise, 2,553 backers who collectively pledged $158,897 would have been SOL. I certainly hope ED got to take in some of the money.

Can't wait to try it out!. But I do agree that Steve McQueen scene *has* to be in there. How cool would that be :)
