Normandy Map Discussion

Lenux

Recommended Posts

After having some discussions with people who fly other WWII (won't go into detail which ones) sims regularly I gotta say I completely understand the reason why Normandy is coming before the merge of Caucuss into 2.X. Or indeed anything else (other than modules).

The map looks great, any idea on the pricing?

I'd gladly pay $99.99

I think you're in the minority there. I'm looking forward to it but no way would I ever spend that much just for another map... Yes, I'm cheap! :P;)

I suspect it will be at least as much as Nevada and won't be surprised if it is 50% more, due to all of the units and other period items.

If my memories are right, ED once said that the WW2 AI units will be part of DCS World and not exclusive for normandy.

Either way, I am sure it'll be only $49 or so, wayyyy tooo low IMHO for the hours, upon hours of joy I'll be getting out of this.

For some it's too much, for some too low. If you want them to help, you could have/can donate your money...

But i'm sure, that having it switching between to periods is making it a lot more interesting, not only for wwii planes, but for all scenarios

As ever, you get what you pay for and you have to pay for what you get.

Luckily it is a one-time purchase on which you will fly all those aircraft you have already bought and those you have yet to buy, probably for not much different cost than the Normandy map - although given it's long-term use I would happily play more than the usual $50 for the map. I'm sure I'll still be using it long after I have become bored with one or two of the several DCS aircraft I have bought.

we will get ww2 german radio navigation like:

Y-Verfahren, AFN2, Freya and Würzburg with the Normandy Map?

And simulated FuG 16ZY and FuG 25a radio for the FW190 Dora?

AFN-2 is working, there is currently no beacon on the Caucasus Map that's would be working with the AFN-2.

So as well FUG-16 is simulated incapacity of the AFN-2 only radio operation are useful now.

The FUG-25 is not simulated currently, but make later only sense with Freya and Würzburg Radar station to identify friend or Foe. But after all the AWACS/GCI now is unable in current DCS Simulation report friendly Forces there is long way before this happen.

Make the Y-Verfahren sense without Bombers currently?

More useful would Ground Station can take the Bearings of your Radio call as example for estimate your Position.

Once you have tasted Flight, you will forever walk the Earth with your Eyes turned Skyward.

There are a whole lot of people that own modules that I think would say quite different. Just take a look at the features and functions that are still not done for a bunch of modules already out. So no, you don't always get what you pay for. It is great that you are excited for the map but to translate that excitement into an approval to be charged more is kind of masochistic. How about ED just charges you guys more for releases than everyone else. I guess I would be okay with that and it sounds like you would be too.

It is simply a reference to the amount of work that goes into a map and it's longevity/potential. I'm sure ED won't be taking notice of anything I say, they already know their marketing strategy.

As much as I would love to hear all the things you think you are missing, lets please keep the discussion on topic.

Interesting about Wags talk about two trains types, allied and axis types?.

Not sure if Racoon can talk someone about them and if the "planed" logistic train / truck system go forward

We have proper trains as destoyable traffic now. Step 1 passed.
