The AMRAAMer
What ordinance does a Hog flying AFAC usually take? I think the standard loadout for a CSAR/CAS/Strike mission is 2xAIM-9s, ECM, TGP, 1x WP, 2x Mavericks, 4x bombs Do AFACs take lighter loads (or maybe fuel tanks) for longer time on station? Paganus
It's really driven by era, environment, and mission requirements. In general, it would be configured less for destruction and more towards sensing and marking.
kylekatarn720
I doubt that they take fuel tanks to any flight that has the possibility of combat Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

Yeah, I think they'd probably take less ordnance to increase speed and maybe time on station. Loadout would probably consist of just AIM-9s, EMC, TGP, and WP rockets
albertseille
In the book A10 over Kosovo, even when acting as AFAC they loaded ECM, AIM9, 2 mavericks Delta, and sometimes some mk82(1per pylon) and one or 2 pods of WP. But they didn't have TGP so...idk. But it can be nice to add a TGP to this loadout. The AMRAAMer
WP rockets, gun, LITENING II pod, jammer. So A-10C AFACs dont take mavericks or bombs? I imagine that they would, just in case

I imagine that they would, just in case | I just found a picture of an A-10A I took during DENY FLIGHT over the Adriatic. I'll scan it and post it as soon as I can. I'm pretty sure its a fairly light loadout to improved loiter time.
