Navgrid Update!

Is there a trick to updating the YY location from the ME bullseye when in an other-than-cold-start jet? I keep moving my own position, a steerpoint, or nothing happens when inputting new YY coordinates.

The easiest way is to have an F10 marker, and Jester selects that as YY. If you yourself put in a new YY, you need to make sure that no waypoint or anything else is hooked. If the coord entry moves own position or waypoints, then it means they are hooked when they should not be.

Hmm, dumb question: How to unhook/deselect own position?

Ha, good question, hehe. Did you try just hooking something else instead? Or half action again into the blank space before going full action?

Not specifically for the purpose to deselect/unhook own pos, but I've often performed half action into the blank space for other reasons, and IIRC OWN POS always stays selected on the CAP, no matter what. The only way to deselect it that I know of is to select a waypoint, but that's also not permitable for navgrid position entry as you stated earlier in this thread. So I wonder: How can I not have either a WP or OWN POS selected on the CAP in order to enter the NAVGRID position?

Did you try just half action -> release? If that doesn't work, it could be a bug, I need to ask gyrovague.

EDIT: ok, I just talked to Naquaii, according to how we implemented it and how it is according to our docs, you cannot unhook own a/c. however it does not have to be unhooked, only waypoints etc. when in nav grid and ground stab you can enter the data for navgrid even if it displays own a/c. (I think I said own a/c before, that was wrong if I did.)

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. As i said, I haven't tried it specifically for the purpose of deselecting OWN POS, but for other purposes. I can not remember having ever seen OWN POS getting deselected by HCU half action though. Half action definitely unhooks WPs and other hooked symbology on the TID, but I'm not sure if it also deselects them on the CAP.

I will have to deliberately test deselecting OWN POS by pressing HCU half action in order to give a verified answer.
