Helicopters Tournament 5

GCI must be on LotAtc. These are the 104th server rules. I'll talk to Maverick next time maybe.

Sure it is server rules - but this is mainly for the other stuff, right?

I'm sure they will be able to lift that for special events if you ask nicely.

...

I guess, the Red guys were so quick and dominant to the extent they almost got bored at bullseye and "had" to push towards the enemy's FARP.

...

If I remember the roster of the pilots who actually participated correctly, then it was something like 15 blue vs 19 red. And given that most of the missing pilots where supposed to fly the Gazelle, then red had nearly twice as much attack choppers than blue. So it seems to me that we had just the numerical advantage.

Next event needs a ruling on attacking home plates, it's a bit of an easy victory for Ka50 otherwise. I think we've been pretty fair sticking to the gameplan in previous events but it was inevitable the gentlemans agreement was going to get lost on some and they would go on to stomp the enemy farps.

Why would there need to be a gentleman agreement? put 20 tunguskas at the farp, OR how about just not advertising where the farps are located. If in 90 minutes someone is able to find a farp, it deserves to die. If you're worries about the magic abris giving it away, scatter units so that it's anyone's guess which units are protecting the farp. There is so much more possibility for a fun tactical match where helicopters do what they're supposed to. If this is literally meant to be a helicopter dogfight match then advertise it as such.

Because making enjoyable events is tough work and ironing out format, map making and rules is in the experience. It also takes a level of understanding from the participants to engage in the overall picture instead of viewing events as win at all cost exercise. Its not expected but making the event enjoyable for all is just as much the communities responsibility as it is the event organisers.

For me it was pretty obvious due to the airframe selection on both sides that attacking farps is not a bonus objective and pretty much detrimemtal to the event. The outstanding reason being blues extremely limited capability to do so and the relative ease in comparison it would be for 8 Ka50s to decimate a simple farp.

This is not a criticism of players actions because from their position it seemed a postive decision stop blue and seal victory it just needs highlighting in future that this is or is not part of the plan.

Hi, everybody.

In fact-it was an amazing event in which I participated.

The red team in the beginning of the battle suffered serious losses among the ka-50, but by the middle of the battle thanks to the courage and manhood of the pilots of the Mi-8 could turn the tide of battle in their favor. And then the desperate pilots of the ka-50 in their bold tactics and the absence of the rules of prohibition of shooting at the FARP were able to finally consolidate the victory.

If the event is a tournament, then it needs to be rigid rules, the infringement of which should be appropriately punished. Also organizator must understand that all that is not forbidden - is allowed.

Also summing up "tournament 5" - I want to ask the organizer of tournament - could you allow me in the following tournament to carry out a departure for blue team by ka-50 helicopter, for establishment of balance between teams.

Sincerely, always yours Frau Kapecki

But how would you prevent blue-on-blue fatalities? It's hard enough to reliably recognize the shape of the different helis during combat, let alone to differentiate between different paint jobs.

I was flying the Mi-8 myself and in the beginning Blue captured Lochini and Soganlug. Minutes after that, Vaziani was taken away from as too. At that point I almost thought it's impossible to win now. I was urging Ka-50 pilots (at least the ones who were on comms with me) to provide escort. Whether by flying above us or behind us to destroy possible enemy helicopters nearby and Humvees. They did pretty damn well and I myself (other Mi-8 pilots too) was able to deploy BRDM-2's at each airbase.

Only after that they started pushing towards the Blue FARP's if I'm not mistaking.

Anyways, attacking the enemy's FARP like that only happened in round 5 so far. Now that it did, of course the rule will be like: Don't, or else you'll be kicked out of the server or lose a life or something.

Just like Requiem_Alpha said, IFF might become an issue having the same helicopters on both sides. Besides, those who know me, know well that I'm never a fan of mixing it up like that. Red flies for Red, and Blue flies for Blue.

Thanks for the feedback and hope to see you in round 6. Or maybe in the Combined Arms tournament.

The Blue side knew we were going to lose since we saw the terrain. The capacity to kill targets on land and air of the Ka-50 and the lack of Gazelle on the blue side left us without many chances.

No element on the blue side could guard the vehicles on land, being attacked 8km away.

But we arrived first :) and was fun.

Thx Alpen!

The thing is, these days you can't get a reliable Shkval lock at those distances. I think Blue lost, because Red had the numerical advantage. We had nearly twice as many attack choppers in the Tournament than Blue.

To be honest.

Besides the facts, we are not that many and the Huey door gunners are not working right now, Red was simply better. A better team, better organized and most important they had a plan and obviously talk to each other.

We are at least 3 to four groups and the communication was terrible. Nobody was on the SRS Chanel talking. :(

It was our first tournament as UGLY ANGLE's and we learned a lot from the red site.:thumbup:

Looking forward to get some more lessons :pilotfly::smartass:

I couldn't agree more.

Blue only had a couple Mistrals that can lock onto an air-to-air target and even then they only carry 4 rounds each, versus the Blackshark which carries a pile of shkvals.

"IF" the M models worked as far as multi-crew goes, there might have been a bit of an equalization, but multi-crew doesn't work and there was only a couple M models in the fight.

It's true that Blue wasn't really that coordinated regardless what aircraft we had. There was really no Team Plan or play. But when you can stand off with the BS and just pick off aircraft umpteen times before rearming, it's going to be a bit lop-sided.

I still enjoyed myself. I know what mistakes I made. But I could see before the fight even started, that Blue Team was vastly outnumbered with capable aircraft.

Round 1 and 2 were decisively won by Blue. I remember they were pretty much balanced too. And I remember, especially in round 2, Blue were very clever and actually had a plan.

Round 6 is ready. It's been ready one day after round 5 was done actually. It's between Sukhumi and Gudauta with FARP's to be captured. Enough mountains and hills to hide behind for intercepting Gazelle's, which means it should be tougher for the Sharks. However, it's too eraly for putting the thread online just now.

Oh, almost forgot. With GCI the outcome of any battle can change in either way drastically. LotAtc wont be a must this time. I'll be doing GCI for one side so someone else will have to sign up for the other side.
