Infantry logic (kamikaze)

Hello,

Yesterday i played on a MP server. I deployed a AT squad to deal with a t-55 tank.

My squad run into tank one by one and they got killed within a few seconds. They didin't avoid any bullet or being seen by the enemy.

I carried them for 40 miles with my slow huey and they died in 30 seconds

I hope ED will show mercy to these poor patriotic kamikaze heroes eventually..

If you put standard infantry against tanks nothing good will happen for the infantry, trust me I was anti tank Infantry when I was younger and even we would stay at a distance :)

 

In some cases the AI infantry will just not engage armoured vehicles as they have no effect on some armour, however I think dynamically spawned units behave differently on some occasions and will try to engage armour this maybe what you are seeing online.

 

Maybe one day we will see specialised infantry for armour but not planned currently.

seems like it would be a "relatively" quick to put in ATGM infantry? Use same infantry model currently in game, just model the weapon and make it one of the AT missiles currently in game

That require not only build the 3D weapon into the old model. Need implement animations, textures and build the luas and AI interaction, and of course missiles / rockets propperly and add to ED weapons core and plan them into the team develop.

 

Has better build a "set" of AT / ATGM infantry team to DCS "armies".

Fair points. However, regarding the infantry ATGMs:

The Konkurs (AT-5) and TOW missiles are technically already in game, so that would not be an issue.

 

I would be fine with literally copy and pasting an RPG soldier that shoots the above missiles until they are properly made.

Has better build a propper soldier, no a horrible "copy/paste".

 

There are even player created mods that could be incorporated into the core game that already have been completed, so the work has pretty much all been done:

Also, there are some infantry models that do not have animations at all, soooo...that evidently does not seem to be too important either. You could pretty much just copy the other infantry code, change the model/textures (it does not necessarily need to be high quality since the models are small), and make it shoot either the TOW or the Konkurs instead of a machine gun. Again, both missiles are already in game (BMP-2 shoots the Konkurs, and several US vehicles already in game shoot the TOW).

 

I don't know, it seems that someone with experience and knowledge of coding could accomplish this relatively quickly.
