What's your favorite F-14 livery?

I'm very aware those were D models. But other than a small difference with the TCS/ALQ-100 externally they are the same. So...D model Liveries will certainly be seen on he B model;)

That's not the only external difference. The F-14D lacked the ALQ fairings by the main gear doors also. The RIO's boarding step reinforcement plate was also not universal on the F-14D like it was the B. Also, while they were in the cockpit, the ejection seats were quite visible from the outside. The F-14B's GRU-7A and the F-14D's SJU-17 are very different.

The D had a better AFCS- not the DFCS everyone got after 2000- it entered the fleet with a better control system than the B or D.

Personally, I dislike black painted radomes on -any- aircraft. But that VF-74 livery looks smashing indeed!

When I was a kid I had a Tomcat model that I loved playing with, with the all-black VX-4 scheme. Probably not very appropriate for ~8 year old me, but hey at the time I had no idea what the bunny was for >.> :

Without any doubt, this one here - which reminds me that we need a new WW2 warbird ;)

As we are all going the show (not just tell rout), here are mine:

1. VF-1, i like both early brown radome brown nosed, or white nosed variants;

2. VF-143, also both white and brown nosed ones;

3. VF-84, the classical early 80's variant;

3 (with a caveat), VF-213, but only AND ONLY the white nosed ones. I would have none of that strip over nose nonsense!

P.S. no grey Tomcats for me, thank you very much! :music_whistling:

1985 VF-21, CVW-14, USS Constellation, NK Side number 205.

I have a model with these exact decals I'll get built one of these days.

The A6 Texan "Hollywood" Zero?

First saw that movie for $0.75 at Luce Auditorium, NTC San Diego (where they filmed parts of Top Gun...Mav drives angry out of gate 3, across Rosecrans, and...into a street that doesn't go anywhere?). One of the guys I knew was on the Nimitz when they filmed Final Countdown, but his chance at fame ended on the cutting room floor.

The -14s are flaps down, trying to stay airborne while the Texans are firewalled trying to keep up. Quite a bit of lore around that dogfight.

Now that'd be a good reason for Heatblur to target a Dec 7th release for early access rdlaugh.png

But M³ really has to hurry up with an A6M2 module then... rainbowdashwink.png

My fave's probably this one...

But I also like VF-1, VF-84, VF-33 and VF-111, oh and that blue VF-213 one.

Generally anything that has either a pony (read: horse, pegasus, unicorn and alikes) and/or lightning bolts and/or sun/star/moon on it dealwithit.png
