blokovchan
Hi guys. I would like to ask for some advices for sharp turns. I read about corner velocity and so on... So I manage to keep proper speed, but I have problems with keeping stable altitudde... So any tips from aces would be welcome.... :) Thanks.... Ironhand
Hi guys. I would like to ask for some advices for sharp turns. I read about corner velocity and so on... Basically you seem to be asking how to maintain a level turn. In any turn, less force is available to apply to the vertical lift component because part of it is now being used elsewhere. The steeper the turn, the less there is available. So you either need to add power to create more force or lift your nose to compensate for the aircraft's downward movement. I normally add power while maintaining the Gs I want to pull through the turn. Depending on the situation, though, you might even need to do a bit of both. With practice, you'll be boring level circles in the sky, if that's what you want to do. blokovchan
Mostly I have problems with that when evading missiles my nose points upwarrds and plane rapidly gain altitude, but if I ease back pressure on stick, then turn isnt very steep any more.... Is it just a matter of not banking enough for what you're trying to do? Without seeing what you're doing, it's kind of hard to tell. But that's what it sounds like. GGTharos
I think he's reaching the AoA limit and the nose is getting forced up. But who knows. Ironhand
I think he's reaching the AoA limit and the nose is getting forced up. But who knows. Ahhh! Hadn't considered that. I guess the question to ask, then, is: When this happens, do you have difficulty controlling the aircraft? blokovchan
thanks for help... I wasn't banking enough. I was just holding bank at 90° - dont ask me why.. I dont know. Today I made some practice and if plane banks more then 90, it starts droping nose

doomsniper
Sustaining a corner velocity turn requires more energy than afterburners can produce. You need to overbank slightly the dig the nose below the horizon then drop altitude to maintain best rate.
