I wouldn't expect much endurance, but your average hop around the patch is what? An hour? Give us an hour in the air and 30 minutes reserve and you have something that's pretty great for the bulk of instruction. Just keep a regular 172 around for your cross country work and it's all good. Seems to be even more challenging to get up to take off velocity from water than wheels or a catapult. I love the DHC-2. It is an amazing little plane.
