Upgrading Ryzen 7 2700x

Hi guys I'm upgrading my Ryzen 7 2700x cpu but unsure which way to go I'm using a X470 Aorus ultra gaming motherboard socket Am4 do I go Intel i7 or i8 or should i go for the 3700x I use oculus rift in DCS I have 32gb of 3200 ddr4 ram and gtx1080ti card. Any advice or views would be much appreciated. Thanks Glynn

Unless you really want to spend the money for a 9700K, new motherboard, and possibly new RAM I would just get a 3700X, your motherboard already supports it. You might need to upgrade your BIOS for your motherboard to recognize it. Updating BIOS and changing out the CPU is a lot cheaper and easier than building a whole new system.

 

I can't speak to the performance differences in VR for DCS between the two but the 3700X is the more economical option. Sell your 2700 and save the money for a new graphics card later in the year.

Yes I looked at the performance advantages and taken the price into account thanks for the link as well much appreciated.
