I think someone here can explain better, but the explosion itself isn't a new effect. Yes, the explosion effect isn't really "new", maybe enhanced a tad (not by me of course!). Ever known a retailer to nark down the price of it's best selling items? If you want it discounted, either buy it when it is on early purchase, or wait very patiently for the time when it is offered at a discount - just don't expect it within a month or two of release.
