Just posting some stuff that has seriously upped the hype for the Hornet (as if it wasn't already)

For some reason embedding this isn't working. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOHYVUZUpYA

This is one of the most recent videos I've seen of F/A-18C's operating from a carrier, lots of good traps, refuelling and strikes.

Hornets Over Kuwait by Jay A. Stout

Currently reading this, seems pretty good so far, will update when I'm done.

Bogeys and Bandits: The Making of a Fighter Pilot by Robert Gandt

Quite enjoyed this one although its more about the pilots and their backgrounds which I found less interesting than a war diary type of book but still worth checking out.

Haven't found too many books by Hornet pilots, anyone got any others to recommend?

If you've not watched Jetstream, I highly recommend it. It follows a class of fighter pilots as they learn to fly the CF-18 with 410 Squadron in Cold Lake.

+1- I binge-watched this. Lets you really know what it's like to fly one of these birds. As well as the process leading up to time in the cockpit.

Here's an amazing video:

And another one by the same guy:

The videos above are interesting in that although they are "amateur", they have a very professional feel to them.

This book isn't strictly about hornets but talks a lot about F/A-18C's and F-14s due to the time period (mid to late 90s). A great book for anyone who wants an in depth look at what training is like to become a naval aviator.

Not the worst solo either:

While not the best view on them, the high-alpha barrel rolls and the half-loop straight from the high-alpha pass are fairly impressive for this somewhat underrated airplane.

And the same from the cockpit:

If anyone missed Great planes: F/A-18 its a great documentary. I never realized the F-5 Tiger = F-17 cobra = F/A-18 aspect before

Good thing the pilot didn't see those birds between 10:00 and 10:20. Might have discovered the origin of the term "poopy suit," especially if a few were sucked down each intake. Jet aircraft intakes have eaten more than a few sailors that weren't paying attention.

When all else fails, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!
