Hornet Updates - ED Please Respond

I hope to god the following OB has a metric (redacted) Ton of Hornet updates and nada for the F16 as you’re ‘focusing’ on the Hornet right?

1) Buy a module

2) Open a thread "module giveaway" write in it "first to post here I'll give the name to ED and transfer this module".

3) That's it ! (do that as often as you are comfortable with !)

Yes and no, maybe....since ED has said that they kept the Hornet team working on the Viper to meet their minimum requirements for a Steam release (which promised TWS). If they can't release TWS, then the team doesn't move back over to the Hornet which was the whole purpose of moving them in the first place. So you're looking at delaying the Hornet's development further by delaying TWS in the Viper, effectively kicking yourself in the junk. At this point, it's lose/lose for the Hornet until December/January.

Also, the TWS is a feature that has severe game impact as well in Multiplayer. Now we have AIM-54s and AIM120Cs that makes it very hard to compete. Sure we have SA, but it doesn't matter if you can't get close enough to fire a weapon.

I bought a module that is still not finished and they released another module after the one I purchased. It is reasonable to expect completion within a certain time while other aircraft that are newer get features we've been waiting for. That's just not good business ED.

We'd be stupid to throw money at the problem because the lucky few are able to,

open and close of it is, spent the money on the promise that F18 would be the focus, the promise has been broken, no more money on anything else until that's rectified.

As stated in the newsletter, the focus is shifting back to the Hornet after this next OB.

The focus should have never left the Hornet, which we were clearly told it would not; it certainly has as well as other items such as netcode.

I informed my guys after another disappointing flight last night that I'm done flying until the game improves. I am sick and tired of having to restart our servers every few hours. I owe ED nothing and as a customer I have every right to be mad; as do the many other folks who are talking but not posting. Our wing has gone from 11 very active pilots to 5 for scheduled flights due to the disappointment with ED, and from 5 nightly flyers to none.

You broke the trust with us whether you want to acknowledge it or not and it will take some work to earn that trust again. Promoting new weather, carrier and whatever else you have in the pipeline doesn't make guys like me happy when the core of the sim needs work. There's no point having a fancy carrier or new missile when the sim has become such a disappoint for those who fly nightly.

I think the ED has potential to repair the damage caused. I was so optimistic about ED I left BMS as a dev and returned to flying online after a 5 year absence. Don't let me and others down.

While not as dramatically. I agree with the OP. ED has to release modules to make money. But EA and prepurchase discounts are a credit card and not sustainable. Maybe they can charge for 3.0 or go to a subscription model then but I doubt it. Anyway I know ED has to make money. Charge what you need to. But you guys have to see how unhappy everyone was when razbam did this and now ED proper? I don't know the answer but I know I didn't get what I expected with the viper and work on the hornet has slowed down. I do plan to adjust my purchases accordingly.

I'm pumped for the updates all around, Hornet AND Viper. Should be a fun and interesting couple of months.

Keep up the hard work gents. Your increased transparency and communication has done wonders for you as an organization, despite all the entitlement in this thread and others.

It's really disappointing to see whats happened with the Viper and consequently the Hornet.

I can't say that I've lost faith in ED, business is business, teams and priorities shift from project to project. I get that.

You can clearly see how much the development of Hornet systems has slowed down looking at the Mini Updates. I miss those, maybe the soothing voice of Matt Wagner would calm us all down.

I feel like ED was in an absolute panic as they came upon the release of the Viper based on how incomplete it is - and still is - resulting in their decision to shift developers.

I will commend ED here in how vocal they have been with us, it takes guts to make these announcements and keep us as updated as they do, whether that's something positive such as an upcoming "Aft Pod Antenna Option" (cool) or news that they know will cause a fuss.

I'll continue to support Eagle Dynamics and purchase modules that I am interested in such as Super Carrier and any new maps, but I think that we in the Hornet community could really use a gesture of good faith from the devs and something to get excited about.

Then releasing a bare bones, obviously rushed and inadequate Viper

Releasing capabilities in the viper people have been asking for on the hornet for over a year.

I just don’t think you’re going to persuade the majority of people who feel burnt by EDs recent decisions and EA practices with words.

You need to demonstrate continuing improvements to the module people are upset about.

Razbam showed the way with the harrier and mirage and promising ‘no new modules till we’ve completed these’.

If we keep hearing words but not seeing tangible improvements to what is on our SDDs, you’re not going to persuade anyone.

Every OB without a *significant* step forwards on a hornet systems and avionics I think this will only get worse...
