I thought ground units weren't engaging on servers in this version.

 

The issue we found in Beta was the AI (either ground OR air) that rely on visual identification, NOT engaging the enemy IF the "--norender" option was used. The full blown dedicated server software uses this option by default since there are no graphics files included in it.

 

You CAN use the full install of DCS and run the server the old fashion way with "options.graphics.render3D = false" in the autoexec.cfg file and the AI will work again.

Edit: Well this is odd. ED team member "VR" posted a new changelog (2.5.5.33184) in the russian Open Beta changelog thread, but it's gone now...:dunno:

I guess it will come back soon and will also be posted in the english update thread.

The update itself always comes a bit later than the update changelog.

it gives timeout was reached error, still no update

I cannot enter dcs website, my updater is also cannot update because of that issue, has anyone has same problem?

More ground truck updated models, love it!

 

Yeah I'm so pleased to see ED updating the old and replacing it, they truly went above and beyond with the weapons, words cannot describe those beauties, I mean when I first saw the animated control surfaces and how high res they were I was just :surprise:

 

With the trucks though I really hope ED starts doing some proper suspension animations, at the moment the main body of the vehicle bobs randomly while the wheels/tracks etc remain planted on the ground, which is the total polar opposite of what suspension should do. I guess it's low priority as high fidelity ground vehicles aren't a thing yet. It's probably an effect that only I take issue with though, so I'll concede. [EDIT Looks like the HY-2 launcher, RADAR and the Land Rovers, not to mention a select couple more have properly animated suspension).

 

But truly the work ED and everyone else is putting into this simulator is absolutely fantastic, and that barely scratches the surface how grateful I am.

Oh thanks a whole lot I'd never thought of that, nor seen it anywhere, sometimes we can't see the most obvious things.

 

And ofcourse the SysInfo got improved and fixed very visibly, great stuff.

I'm guessing we aren't getting any good F-18 updates today since we haven't had any videos from Wags?

I guess this week's update will be for the Stable Release branch to let it catch up with the Open Beta.

Just an update as well, we do plan another Open Beta update next week with additional Hornet features/fixes.

 

This time of year is a big time for vacations right through August, so it can slow down how fast these things move at times.

 

I guess this plan isn't coming to fruition. Still early though.

  • AI Wingmen will no longer call out “Tally Bandit” if bandits are within 4km of each other, this is to cut down on the number of “Tally Bandit” calls.
  • Scripting Engine. Function coalition.getAllCargos and coalition.getStaticObjects corrected.
  • Bug with misaligned yellow boxes in tutorial missions is fixed.
  • Corrected Stinger MANPADS guidance.
  • Fixed bug when aircraft with Search Then Engage task attack Air Defenses when Air Defense checkboxes are unchecked.
  • Corrected Linebacker and Avenger SAMs exceeding elevation of missile trajectory that could cause a miss on low level targets.
  • Redesign of the Mission Editor MAP, SAT, ALT buttons in lower information bar.
  • Time setting fields restored in the AVI recording panel.
  • In the Mission Editor, when LATE ACTIVATION is unchecked - VISIBLE bef. ACTIVATION checkbox will be grayed-out (disabled).

  • Added animation for the CB covers.

 

Combined Arms

  • Units will no longer fire unless they have a direct line of sight to the commanded target.
  • Adjusted the sound volume of the Igla MANPAD.

 

DCS AV-8B N/A by RAZBAM

  • CTD when entering a new waypoint bug fix.
  • INS Stuck on invalid steerpoint bug fix.
  • EHSD not clearing after un-designating a target bug fix.

DCS AJS-37 Viggen by Heatblur Simulations

  • Reduced probability Rb15s fired in random group mode will target the same ship.
  • Removed invalid error-warning in dcs.log output.

 

DCS A-10C

  • Corrected training missions. For mission progress the trigger wait for specified command (gun trigger 2nd position), so if user have re-assigned Space key, training mission will stuck. This action replaced with "Start Wait User Response"/"Stop Wait User Response" pair for all such cases.

 

DCS Yak-52

  • Some gauges appear to stay dark even in sunlight - fixed.
