Change the mission date in briefing, season will change automaticaly.

Are you sure? I thought you have to change the weather preset to get different seasons.

It's a mixture of both.

 

For the terrain, change the date in the briefing i.e to see snow on ground

 

If you want to see it snowing in winter, change the weather presets

The date/season limits the temperature you can set in the ME.

 

While you can e.g. select +50°C in summer, you can only get +10°C in winter.

Is this new in 2.5? I've never seen it before, but I didn't much mess with the weather, I must admit.

I think so. While I haven't played much with the weather either, I've seen other users wondering about these limits in 2.5 in the past few days.
