ED Team NineLine Posted September 24, 2015 Author ED Team Share Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) There are different options now for shadows. There are some options for flat shadows that allow for better performance, you can even have objects and terrain shadows set differently, it just depends on the settings used for the video and the fact its all WIP right now. Cockpit shadows look pretty good to me, I am not sure I see the issue here. They might be a little dark, but its all WIP in those vids. Silver_Dragon
First in one video we saw an icon for the F-5 module on Wags' DCS main screen. A post was opened and speculation started. In one other video afterwards (L-39 I think) while taxiing there was an F-5 parked and Wags said "I wonder what this F-5 is doing here". Add more speculation. Then in the latest "first look" video (Mirage 2000-C), again, taxi, F-5's -> even more speculation. SkateZilla
Question about dynamic shadowing. (sorry if this has been asked before, didn't see it in this thread) I see in the various vids of 1.5 and 2.0 that the new graphics engine has dynamic shadowing of buildings and different structures. What I don't see (which I hope will change) is the shadows affecting other objects such as trees/buildings etc... for example, in the cities such as Las Vegas, we see many building shadowing, but none of them overlap each other - I believe this is a perfect example of the "Flat Shadows" Option, will have to confirm. ED Team NineLine Posted September 24, 2015 Author ED Team Share Posted September 24, 2015 I guess I need to stress once again that the only posts that will be left in this thread are those that help answer questions about the upcoming 1.5/2.0 releases. Questions about when it will release, statements of frustration because it hasn't released yet, or when you think it should have, as well as comments of opinion on anything else will be removed. This isn't because the mod team is mean, its because we are trying to have a thread where people can find answers easily without reading through pages of OT and random memes. Thanks to 99% of you that have been understanding of this. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
ED Team NineLine Posted September 24, 2015 Author ED Team Share Posted September 24, 2015 My apologies if this question was already asked, I'm fairly new but I come from modding other similar games, mostly texture based stuff. I notice DCS currently is pretty outdated in terms of shaders for metallic/reflective surfaces, and global illumination/radiosity simulation. It sounds like, from this thread and the videos I've seen, that 1.5/2.0 is going to be moving toward DX11 compatibility, does this mean a little more room for us modders in terms of shaders/lighting? I am not sure to what level people will be able to mod things with 1.5/2.0, but yes everything is indeed improving. terence44
September was no set in stone, the team is working hard to get this out to us, no one is more eager than ED themselves to get this in our hands, and honestly, comments like this are very frustrating to everyone involved... would it make you feel better to have a 1.5 on your system and maybe you favorite module doesnt launch, or maybe it does launch and crashes to the desktop? We need to be patient, ED is nearing the end of the tunnel, please try and relax and understand they are working very hard to do this, this is top priority.. not some scam.. PS, I wont answer another comment like this, be eager, be frustrated, but dont expect you can come on the forums and say what you want out of impatience. Its coming. 1.10 Product feedback and constructive criticism is encouraged when provided in a mature and courteous manner. I am not sure how many times I can say this, but ED's #1 priority is getting 1.5 out to the public, including the L-39. There is 0 benefit to them to hold it any longer than it needs to be. Maybe once you guys see the 1.5 changelog you will understand the scope of the update better. 1 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

Blech
Will the Dev team let us know the minute they find out that there will be a delay? Trailer
"Blocking bugs" doesn't sound good. It's an open beta, and if they're not comfortable releasing it yet even as it's in open beta, there must be something seriously borked. Everyone should just forget about the timeline and forget about any announcement of release and go back to "it will be done when it's done."
