Custom center chair mount for control column

Recommended Posts

I recently picked up the VKB Gunfighter Pro without thinking through how I was going to mount it. Experiments with speaker stands and 2x4's did not go well. Eventually I gave up and asked a friend who does metal work to help me out and the results are great!

It's a little on the heavy side, but rock solid with an excellent grip. The stick is perfectly placed and there's no chance of wiggle or shifting. Compared to desktop sticks, this feels like the real deal. It simply attaches to the chair piston; my base plate is designed specifically for the VKB Gunfighter base but can be custom made for anything. I highly recommend this solution from Blue Spark Fabrication if you're using a grip extension!

It might look like it gets in the way for other things, but it sits low enough that once you detach the grip extension from the VKB base you won't even know the mount is there.

Funny, you're not the first person to mention that. I find it's quite comfortable at this level, but you can mount it higher or lower on the chair piston to suit your preference.
