They must have been veritable glowing AMRAAMs in space.

On another note. The feeling I got for Ep 8 is like when you hear about how other movies original endings were rewritten and re shot in order to correct the plot to make sense and we got none of that for the Last Jedi. It's like they were experimenting on us" how about we leave as is?"

Disney is wiping the franchise clean to start a new trilogy. The way the original characters are being treated with silly roles and plots makes me sad (except for Ford who hated being solo and wanted to get killed off since empire but was convinced to come back twice for big paychecks).

Rogue one was decent tho.

The main issue I hated in this movie was:

Leia being sucked into the vacuum of space, then doing a Mary Poppins Fly Back to the Hatch..

Seriously... No...

The Rest of the Movie was meh as well, but I have yet to see why the fans hated Luke's Role so much, in the end he did the right thing, he made a mistake, and it was finally exposed, that would have torn any man apart inside.

As for Rey, I seriously doubt her parents were Jakku Junkies... Ben would say anything at that point to push her to his side.

Then, how does the most powerful Force user not see / feel Ben turning a light Sabre on him....

Too many inconsistencies in the set reality tone, one minute physics or character are a huge part of the scene, and then 2 minutes later those said attributes are completely thrown away, along with Physics

This didnt bother me that much, it's cannon that Leia was as powerful, or more powerful in the force, and Yoda actually expected to train her, not Luke. So it was nice to see her flex her force muscles a little, too bad we wont see any more than that.

I was not happy with how the handled Luke, the fact that he ran off and hid after Kylo/Snoke arose, I guess its a little Yoda like, but still seemed to not give him much back bone, then they did, and he is dead... sure he can come back and troll Kylo as a force ghost (which they better do dammit), but still feels like he never fulfilled his potential.

Overall it was ok, it was no Empire Strikes Back, and a lot of missteps can be undone in the next one, but will JJ do that? We will see.

Overall though, it seems to paint almost everyone slightly incompetent... nobody performs that great, Phasma got beat up again (possibly dead), Snoke went out like a bitch, Luke over projected himself after screwing up the entire galaxy, Finn got tazed trying to sneak off again (no matter what his motive was), the Resistance was fighting with each other, and is now left with a handful of core members...

Dunno, I love Star Wars, but I am still not sure about this one... mixed feelings is the best description.

I don't think there was any way for the director to succeed with making this movie without a lot of criticism or people not liking it.

I mean, if the movie just repeated the same themes over and over again like a lot of people wanted, what would the point even have been?
I agree.
People want it to be what Star Wars was to them way back when, but they're not the people they were all those years ago. Everything has moved on.

It wasn't a bad movie. Removed from unrealistic expectations and history it was quite a good movie.
True, the casino bit wasn't needed for anything other than the last scene of the kid in the gutter finding the force and dreaming of being a rebel, but it's a better movie than some of the series, and Rey is turning out to be a well written character.

I loved the early swashbuckling trilogy, but they didn't take themselves seriously, and people have elevated the whole franchise to something serious now.
I suspect if the original Star Wars was released today, it would get panned

Not even seen it but I pretty much lost interest anyway after return of the jedi , things got a bit silly and the spark died along with the story line the acting the direction , its a shame that most kids nowadays will never experience the cinematic phenomenon that we did in the 70's

Cheers
