DCS 1.5.7 suddenly starts hanging on initial loading screen

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I'm having an issue with DCS 1.5.7 at the moment on the initial load before the main menu appears the loading bar gets to 57% and then stops so far after a good long while (20+ minutes) still not past 57%.

If I click the mouse I don't get any "DCS has stopped responding" error messages pop-up like I would do in DCS 1.5.6 in similar situations after clicking the mouse.

I recently purchased and downloaded the Viggen, after downloading I did manage to get on DCS 1.5.7 successfully and run a mission but after I closed DCS and now that I'm trying to get back on it, it just won't load.

The last thing I did regarding DCS was move a user made mission into another folder within the missions folder inside my saved games folder, which I've done in the past without consequence.

I've tried a DCS repair, still no change

I'm only using official content, no user-made mods, textures etc...

Full PC Specs are in my signature

Attached is what I'm seeing as well as my DCS log. If anything else is needed I'll get on it asap

Cheers,

Ollie

Okay, I've successfully repaired and cleaned up my DCS world as per instructions

Problem so far still persists (still gets stuck on 57%).

Still no joy

Just to reiterate, I was able to get onto DCS successfully today after installing the 1.5.7 update and immediately after purchasing, downloading and installing the Viggen. It is only after I closed DCS approximately 6~ hours ago that the issue has arisen.

Planning to try registry fix when I get home tomorrow.

Right no problems at all, DCS is back to it's old self.

As for the Viggen not sure why that was playing up, I had the correct serial, not sure what's going on...

So, I tried an experiment... I changed the lines of code to this instead to do some trial and error to see if my DCS would run... And, still no progress... Same thing, still stuck at 57% and not working.

-- C++ call

--function destroy()

--window_:kill()

--end

logs shows this error now... With lines of code that was causing error removed and placed as comment instead.

Hi

go to C:\Users\Shaunt\Saved Games\DCS

delete the MissionEditor folder

the go to D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\DCSWorld

delete the MissionEditor folder

Do a verification of your install in steam

then try to start again

let me know if it helps

Thank you so much, it works fine now I think what may have caused it was when I was editing factions in the mission editor...

I moved all factions to neutral except usaf aggressors and I left redfor empty, so it was only bluefor as the only faction and they were usaf aggressors. And I had pressed save

Hi all - I just wanted to send a note that I am also running into this 57% hanging issue with the current ALPHA. I was using the ME yesterday and had no problem. tried starting today and it is hanging so the bug seems to still be there.

I'll try the suggestion to delete the Mission editor folders and report back. What does "try a verification" on the install mean? run a repair?

*EDIT* this is NOT a steam install.

**EDIT#2** deleting the saved games ME folder seems to have fixed it in case anyone else runs into this problem

Cheers
