Now I wish that ED would implement some sort of "laser tag" options for training missions that would allow you to train like they do in real life, without being shot down in the virtual skies. Just let me get tagged, and tag others, but still be able to fly without much interruption to foster the actual learning and training process.

I'm sure I am not the only one wishing for something along these lines for NTTR.

I'm clearly in a minority, but pretty underwhelmed by 2.0 and Nevada map. Its either Vegas, desert or incredibly low resolution texture areas without even roads. With 4 airfields, 2 of which in the same place. Not feeling much love for it.

And then there's 2.0: Maybe its the fact that we get an ' alpha' product. I'm struggling to see the great improvements made in the game. I think enabling sweetfx to the old build had just as significant improvement.

Guess i'll keep my warthog under dust sheets until its finished and try it again, all a bit meh.

I am SUPER impressed by all that ED has done with the new graphics engine! 1.5.x has been a brilliant upgrade. Also, all the flight model work has been terrific, especially on the F-15C. However, though I honor all the hard work they've done on the NTTR, I have to agree with fargone and others about being underwhelmed by the NTTR/2.0. But, as a testimony to ED's diligence, I LOVE that they are throwing out an update already to 1.5. With all offense intended, I think Vegas is one of the dumbest places in the USA. :-)

I am curious if anyone else has found the Seagulls yet ?

I was very surprised to find these critters flying around considering the Bird Checkbox (for Bird Strikes) was unchecked and does not produce actual modeled birds.

Don't believe me ?

Take a look !!

I can actually relate to this. It's fantastic to fly over the traffic and the sprawl of buildings with a Huey but I think the amount of work that went into this could have been put to better use.

The opportunities here are very limited - it's a desert with a casino city, for crying out loud. And also, what possible military scenario can you imagine in Vegas - apart from Red Flag, obviously.

If this is just a showcase for engine capabilities, fine.

But if we need to wait for years (god forbid another decade) for another, REAL map, then it's a failure.

Why not work on scenery that would enable us to re-act a real-life (past or potential) conflict such as Vietnam or Iraq and would add some much needed flavor?

To be honest, some of the ED (and affiliates) decisions are beyond comprehension to me... like adding a bunch of trainer jets before implementing something like the much awaited Hornet? A Little Bird or Cobra for helis? Last time I checked it was still called Digital Combat Simulator.

It's like they didn't want to grow their user base by adding something widely recognizable that could appeal to the masses.

Milopapa, shut up there's a good chap.

I do understand where you're coming from but I'm a bit confused. Of course all of this is opinion and doesn't really matter; however, let me give it a go.

I don't expect ED or any 3rd party dev to do a lot of development to test things (like multicrew functionality) and not get any return on it. Obviously if they wanted they could build complex systems like the F-14 and and a new engine to support it and push that out. The dev costs are high and it would take them longer to realize ROI. Not only that, but there are some real benefits to many simmers in training aircraft. Not so much to me, but the aircraft are beautiful, a bit easier to build for the devs, and allow them to test things that they can add into later modules.

The same can be said for maps. At this point, I'm just happy to have somewhere other than Georgia to fly!

My bottom line though is this. DCS World is free. DCS 1.5 beta was free. DCS 2.0 alpha is free (although for now you have to own NTTR to gain use of it). If in doubt don't buy them. Don't buy the trainers. There is nothing wrong with tooling around the Georgia map in an SU-25. Or an A-10 for that matter. Then when something comes out that you love buy it up. I don't always get the decisions ED and the 3rd party devs make, but I don't have to. It's their business and I pick and chose what I want to participate in. On top of that, the fact that DCS World is free and has 2 planes you can fly is awesome and a great move by ED to get people into the community.

Well, my opinion rant is now over. I do see where you're coming from a bit but the end result confuses me.

It is one of the dumbest places in the USA in reality; however, it is fun to fly around in DCS and I do think the insanely long wait and the even more infuriating download was worth it (to get me back on topic).

I am overwhelmed with NTTR and have merely scratched the surface of it's potential. I have been waiting over 15 years for this and look forward to the future developments already in the pipeline. Bravo ED and thanks.:notworthy:

Mostly the same for me!

I am in love with this new Egine and the new map!

The feeling of the speed is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo amazing! Can't wait to play this all with the OR consumer version!
