I'd buy definitely, but you know what? For a reason I rather find Yak 9 and La-5FN better looking than Yak-3. Any of them would be definitely welcome. And that La-9 3D model we know somebody owns around here in a Korea map would be awesome for sure. Some day, I hope  .

I do think Yak-9 is prettier, but it seems the Yak-3 was "dogfighter incarnate" of the Yaks, and late Yak-9s seemed to had issues with engines overheating.

Full disclosure : Il-2 series made me hate the Soviet WWII fighters :D. But I have to admit some of them are rather pretty, and mid to late war ones were very good performers.

Funnily, while they are not really good performers, two Russian warbirds I find to be nicest looking are LaGG-3 and MiG-3. But they are much too old for '44 birds, and they didn't do particularly well even against their contemporaries. But they really have the looks! :D

Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V

Visibility in both Yaks is superb, but in the Yak-3 it is even better because there is no additional framing underneath the canopy bow.

Would also be interested in a Russki plane - I have a couple of model kits of ones that would interest me - La-5, Yak-9 and one I can't remember what it was - think it was a MiG-3, I'll upload a photo in a minute...

edit: yes - it has been sat on the corner of a shelf for a few years - hence the dirt and dust.... Gave up on the build due to lack of info I think - it wasn't a good one, anyway, very low quality - look at the thickness of that canopy! - I do like the triple MG on the nose, mind :)

'nuvver edit: Yup - it's a MiG-3 and it sounds absolutely awesome! Gimma one of these!

There's an I-16 in the works, however. An outclassed machine from the start, true, but one of the coolest aircraft ever still IMO:

I know about, I should have said "Official" external dev.

Not knocking their team and effort, but until they get a forum section it's just another mod that may or may not come out.

Personally though, I wouldn't be too surprised if ED took a crack at Russian WWII plane themselves in a couple of years time once they finish their current round of WWII aircraft.

It would be cool with me, I remember a map on il2 1946 where russian and American planes teamed up on the Germans, american b17 and escort fighters landed in Russian territory, that'd be cool plus the numerous friendly fire incidents between the two countries recreated would make things....interesting
