KA-50 Black Shark 2 Training missions

I have noticed that the buttons seem to trigger better when you are zoomed in on the ABRIS and not adjusting your view. So, don't use the trackIR(I had to stow mine for these) Pressing and holding the mouse button and making small circles over the button will get them to trigger as well. This is a strange problem with black shark and not the triggers themselves however.

Thanks for pointing this out!

Would be a good idea to add "It is recommend not to use TrackIr during this lesson and also don't shift the view - to ensure the triggers will work correctly" to the briefing-screen of the ABRIS-Lessons

- once you put together the final package.

The button press problem happens, because trigger conditions are cheked discreetly at a short interval (once per second or less). The trigger may not "catch" a down press if the button is released quickly, before the trigger condition check gets executed. Holding the button down for a moment resolves this.

The only real solution is not to use button down triggers to check player input and where possible instead use triggers that check the output strings on the actual indicators. This isn't always possible, though, and anyway requires use of the game console, which is disabled.

Tested the press and hold, it didnt work too well, both with mouse or keyboard. In the end I needed to press the button multiple times to get it working, just try several times until it is recognised and you can continue the training. Which is, btw, very nice.

Thx.

@BigfootMSR, Thanks mate for your effort. I've downloaded all your training missions and will at 'em over the next few weeks/months/years. Your blood's worth bottling in my view!

Cheers!

Your quick start-up, I now have it memorized.

Thank you very much.

I have all your previous Missions files downloaded and installed. I will add the rest.

I also downloaded the 2 hour full start-up from the user files, by the other guy, as a comparison and a study.

Cheers

It sounds like you downloaded the mod that replaces the main menu training link with a link to my training missions instead. Try click on "Training" in your BS2 main menu.

If that does not work, In the BS2 training folder, there may be a folder named "DCS KA-50". Renaming that folder to something different will allow the change to take place. This mod works for DCS BS2 standalone. I do not know if it works for DCS: World.

The other thing you could do, is go through the .zip file and pull the .miz file out of each folder. Put them wherever you want on your drive. When you navigate to it under the mission browser it will launch that way too.

Hi BFMSR!

Thank you for your quick reply! Aim on BS2 Upgrade... don´t know if it will work with the upgrade version. Please be so kind to advise if so.

Thank you!

Care,

Red out...

Edit:

Ok found them! If I navagate to the missions folder tree I can use them, but they don´t show up on the training GUI. Yes there´s a folder in training called DCS KA-50, along with your interactive folders.

This will work with the upgrade version. Be sure to rename the DCS KA-50 folder. Dont put my training missions inside of the the KA-50 folder.

Then when you click the training link on the main menu, it should work.

Hi Bigfoot,

Thank you very much! I renamed the DCS KA-50 to... dCs KA-50, but that didn´t work so I renamed it to... Black Shark. That worked and I could see your missions in "Training", but apon loading I get a DCS.exe error which shuts the mission and brings me back to the main BS2 GUI. No worries BF, I can live with navigateing to your folders via misson tree.

I tired your start-up tut and VERY nice! Thank you so much for your effort BF, DCS should take note as this sim is not one of the easy ones! Again, thank you BF!

I was wondering that, myself. And ditto as to what he said, they make good gear. I was self taught into backpacking and hiking up high. Then I enlisted in the Navy and they sent me to the Army's 10th Mountaineering Division's school to what was then, Camp Drum in NY State, near Canada, in February to do it their way. REI and Eastern Mountain Sports carry their gear.

Good!

I feel very small up on a summit! It just show´s you that nature is beautifull and could wipe you off the planet if she liked. Which tames most self-prided individuals. I usually hike solo and my MSR HP tent with a weight of 1.5kg is just awsome as a solo tent! My pack is a "Deuter" (made packs in WWII, german company) and a Hagolfs sack, among other gear... "La Sportiva" Trango Evo boots.

Glad you all like to hike and airships!

Good care and be on a summit or in the air!

PD BTW your missions work fine now!

Hi,

If you have not, read Chuck Yeager's 2nd book, you should. It's a lot about his 2 week treks into the California Sierra Mountains with not much more gear than if he ejected into no-man's land and had to survive with just what was in his survival vest.

I have never approached that kind of Spartan way of doing camping. I like a few comforts, though all carried on my back. I melted my Svea's, aluminum, Sigg Tourist Cooker windscreen kit using a MSR stove in winter, it is a blowtorch of a stove.

I am one of very few individuals that really get a kick watching military aircraft play while I have a great seat on a mountain top watching them dogfight each other. I saw 2, F4 Phantoms do that in the Catskill Mountains about 1971. They had come over from then, Stewart Air Force Base. They were just a few hundred feet above the summit. I waved to the up front pilot and I could see him salute back. I was back there all by myself. It was great!

Yes, Bigfoot, thanks for the Black Shark training tutorials.

Cheers.

Now that I can Test out BS2 in world, I will be double checking all my missions in the coming week or so to ensure compatibility with the 1.2.0 release. I don't for-see any problems, however, if you do find some, please let me know so I can get them fixed ASAP.

I have been thinking about creating another mission. hmm... we shall see what comes about. I may not have much time on my hands pretty soon.

Hey Bigfoot, thank you very much for your missions! Do you know if they work with DCS-World 1.2.0?

Well, I have only had the updates installed for about an hour now. I am trying to configure everything to begin my tests. However, some preliminary testing I did has shown a problem with the narrative not working correctly on any of the modules. (a-10 or BS) I will do more research to see if its a known bug or a problem on my end. Stay tuned!

*EDIT*

Alright, I did some research and its apparently a known bug that should be addressed soon. See post by Mustang http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1501949&postcount=16 . For now, the narrative wont work properly, but you should still be able to read the subtitles.

Ok, just did the startup training mission, great stuff!

Thanks Tbag!

I have updated my first post with instructions on how to integrate these missions into DCS World's training menu. I have also updated the ReadMe inside the mod and will upload it after I have checked through everything to ensure it all works properly.

If you notice a problem with timings or anything else, please let me know!
