+8 fps in vr on 1989 missions

Recommended Posts

I notice that on the deck I get 22fps at mission start, if I F2(view) until I see the first far away enemy AC then back to my cockpit I would get 30fps and then smoother (45-90) when flying the mission. But if I keep going with the F2 view up to the AWACS I loose all the cloud formation around the carrier when I come back to cockpit view.

I t may have to do with loading the scenery to the memory. I'll check my memory usage tomorrow.

People/ED are going to need a LOT more information than what you provided to help you... track files (ED always asks for this). Computer specs (RAM, CPU, GPU, HDD or SSD, etc). Not sure what you mean by "1989" missions but maybe attaching the mission file would help as well so others can recreate this.

i am talking about that in the vr and windows mixed reality threads...especially the second campaign mission which is full of ai units on the ground..there are no settings which can let me stay at 45fps

I play on ryzen 1700 @ 3.7Ghz, 32GB@3.2Ghz, 2080ti@2.1Ghz, 250GB M.2 NVME, CV1 rift

Setting High shadow, ultra view distance, max trees and preload, off traffic, mostly max everything.

DCS is single thread on even number processesors affinity, VR apps on add number processors affinity, using process lasso and park controll at bitsum max performance.

I only played thru the 1989 fighter sweep mission, but mainly the F2(view) trick works with heavy weather mission. Like I said If I go too far with the F2 I lost the clouds all together. How ever I dont notice anything diff. if I only go up to the first enemy AC then back on my cockpit.

I do all that just before takeoff so I know I get the +8fps and smooth overall mission.

I’ll do more testing tonight

i have i9 9900k 32gb 3200 gtx 1080ti

visibility medium shadows low and can’t keep 45 fps in Vr

in 2d at 2560x1440 with ssa 1.5 (so basically 4k rendering) i can have all high settings rarely going under 60 and only in very intensive missions like the second in that campaign.

I will try your trick in vr back home this week end.

Thanks for sharing it

ps could you post how to use process lasso with your settings?

i tried to use but i have worse performance (setting disable smt to dcs.exe) and discovered that bitsum high performance causes this issues to my i9 because i can see 100% cpu utilization on idle ... when i put to balanced or standard high performance all

is back to normal.

Also i don’t understand why process lasso is referencing SMT while i have an Intel cpu

I should have clarified, I am able to see 45fps steady smooth on F2 and F3 views, 90fps Flyby view when flying away upward or towards clear sky. Cockpit is still 45fps with low at 30fps. As suposed to 30sh with low at 22fps and a bad ASW on flyby view.

I’m not compalining so no need for all the track files, I just spent all night trying to reproduced that 30fps on deck on the 1989 fighter sweep mission. I will try more testing tonight

Ps. Not a process losso expert either, but I’ll dig up my settings later tonight

how did this got moved to VR bug? if anything it is an FPS improvement and I would have like other people to try it because it does make my experience run smoother.
