targeting

Ok thanks guys, so far I made a progress, the labels helped a lot. But I’m having difficulties aligning the HUD target with the weapon target, the HUD circle wouldn’t encapsulate the weapon target thus I don’t get the “C”. Can you help me with tips/hints on how to accomplish that easily! What I did was, I held the O key and moved my helmet circle over the target, enabling the auto turn on target should put the HUD circle outside the weapon circle but last night it wouldn’t do that. I tried the “I”, “Y” short-medium-long to no avail. I also enabled the moving ground target.

Post a Track illustrating the above. We can then have a look and offer constructive criticism/advice based on it.

What we will struggle with is to attempt to fathom where you are erring based on your explanation above. Not that there is anything per se wrong with it mind you - having regard to a track just simplifies things greatly ;)

As soon as you exit a Mission [Esc] you will get the following screen:

Scr_09-05-27_13-00-17.jpg

Just hit 'Save Track' and follow the prompts to enter a Track Name. The Track will then be saved in your Missions/Tracks Folder. Copy and Upload it through 2shared or the like.

I am still new to the sim, but I noticed that the auto-turn option, depending on the angle to the target (and maybe rudder trim considered), does not line up 100% with the target. To get the "C" in the HUD you would have to gently add rudder, either left or right, depending to where the target marker sits, until the target marker is slightly inside the Shkval marker - then the "C" appears and you can launch your missile(s).

i was just watching a video and the guy was moving the vikhr reticle so easily and smoothly over shkval. How did he do that? using rudder? or a special key?

i was thinking about the rudder but never actually used them. that would probably solve

my problem of getting the vikhr on shkval. Thank you for your insight.

You have to be gentle on the rudder to not over-steer, thus breaking your stable (auto)hover.

well, auto hover should be engaged from a stable, close to zero speed approach, with the trimming in order. In other words - try to fly smoothly, slow down smoothly, avoid drifting too much. Once that's given, hit the auto hover button, watch what happens to your speed by checking the line that extents from the center. Counter possible movements with gentle inputs. Trim, trim again... and hopefully you end up with a stable hover from which you can focus on the Shkval.

...not necessarily - I was referring to speed in this case. :) The manual says that you can engage the auto hover from ~20km/h, but my own little experience showed me that with that much speed still to bleed, I have a hard time coming to a stable hover *quickly*.

do i need to apply brake to bring the speed down? i.e rotor brake or collective brake? sorry if i'm asking too many questions but this is my only way to play this game.

well, you will have to use the cyclic (pull back on the joystick) to slow the helicopter's forward motion down. If the helicopter moves in other directions (i.e. when over correcting, you might end-up flying backwards or sideways), you'll have to move the stick in the direction opposite to the movement.

That's how you'll stop a heli in mid-air.

The collective brake, from what I understand, is to limit unwanted ascend and descend of the copter...

Ok, another really big noob question. I've looked through the key list, but I can't find it (or don't know the name of what i am looking for).

basicly, whats the key to turn on the ability for the mouse look to move around the cockpit AND be able to click things at the same time. I know Lalt-C turns on clickable mouse cockpit mode, but I have to turn that off to actually click things, then turn it back on to look around using the mouse.

Any ideas?

I noticed that the the mouse-view that allows you to click goes away once you changed to an external view and back into the cockpit. I found that pressing Esc twice re-enables that view. Not sure if that's a bug ...

this happens to me as well. i have to press Esc twice to gain control back. Also sometimes the mouse cursor (when i have control of the cockpit) shifts to the left, so when my cockpit view is centred, you'd see the mouse cursor on the left.

This is a known bug that'll be turned into a feature.

To find what you're looking for in version 1.0.0, make sure you see the yellow cross (LALT-c toggle). When you do, hit Esc, then click Cancel on the exit dialog. The cursor will be active (where you hit the Cancel) and mouselook enabled.

It think you can also center the mouse where you like and hit Esc a second time instead of Cancel.
