Subferro
Any update on this? Been requested multiple times. The textures already exist in the game, literally all this would take is adding a few lines of code to the description.lua of the default skins. Yes there are mods that do this, but it would be much easier to just make this part of the default game.
Tholozor
The thing about using the description method is that only affects the weapons while they're loaded onto the jet, as soon as they're released, they revert back to their original appearance, so it's going to require a little more than just a few lines of code in a livery file. While the thermally-coated variants exist visually, the core engine will most likely (in its current iteration) need to create new weapon entities for either the pilot to select manually, or be scripted to automatically use the thermally-protected variants when an aircraft loads them that should use them, or find a way to set the argument on the weapon that determines its appearance to maintain that argument after it leaves the jet. That then can possibly bring up another question of 'which thermally-protected variant to use?' as I've seen multiple variations of the thermal coating (e.g. white vs. olive on Mk-82 and GBU-12). This can also tie into the appearances I've seen for different fuze types on some ordnance, such as airburst sensors, as those can be controlled with an argument. I'm pretty sure there's going to be some kind of update/overhaul to ordnance across the board to incorporate these additions in the future.
