Elphaba
Hi. I'm REALLY sorry if I'm duplicating, but I have saved and I HAVE followed the advice I've seen on multiple posts, but it's just not working for me. My problem: I downloaded the TOPGUN2 skin for the F18 and I edited it in photoshop with the DDS plugin so that it was my name, and my helmet. That's all good. I've changed the description lua to reflect the new files and removed the countries line and made sure the name = "" line is the same as the new folder name. I put this in my 'SavedGames/DCSOpenBeta/Liveries/FA-18C/<MySkinFolderName> and then I run DCS in instant action and LAlt + ' and try and find my skin - and it's not there. Could someone please tell me where I'm going wrong? Thank you. EDIT: Yes, I have ONLY used Notepad++ for editing of the description.lua file. :) Edited April 9, 2020 by Elphaba
Rudel_chw
The folder name should be FA-18C_hornet For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600X - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia GTX1070ti - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar - Oculus Rift CV1 Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Elphaba
The folder name should be FA-18C_hornet That's odd because in 'MODS/Aircraft/etc' in the proper DCS folder, it's not and I read that I had to explicitly follow that naming convention from that main folder. ? Elphaba
Yup @rudel_chw That fixed it! Thank you. Should I find a link to other forum posts that say the wrong information so that it clears things up? I wonder why the F18 in this case is named differently in the games 'MODS/Aircraft' folder to here... but thanks! Thank you. Should I find a link to other forum posts that say the wrong information so that it clears things up? ... Probably not worth it, as most skins came with instructions that tell where to place them. Best regards.
