I'd say no. If you only play DCS then it's not like 11.6 is holding you back in other games and there may well be no better performance in DCS with the latest drivers (I'm using 12.6 and still get below 30fps most of the time), so unless you don't care for HDR and won't mind disabling it, I'd leave it as is.

I think HDR affects the lighting in DCS. In daytime the only difference I've noticed is annoying sunglare that makes it hard to see the cockpit!

Is the flashing white boxes issue primarily an ATI 69xx deal?

I just recently upgraded to a 7970. I am pleasantly surprised! No more flashing white boxes with HDR enabled!! My prior card is a 6970 and I could not enable HDR without getting those flashing white boxes. Currently using AMD Beta 13.2 version 7.

White spots / black buildings

I think I'm having a DCS stroke. Perhaps someone else has this and can point me to a solution... When flying I get brief white spots flashing here and there ... It's not terribly noticeable but Otis annoying. I Los notice building textures will flash black.

I am on an AMD 6970 running latest release drivers

Known issue?

I think I have found a fix for the Flashing white boxes!

I did set up DCS for a friend - and he is using a HD 6970 with the 13.4 drivers.

And of course he had this bug when HDR was set on.

I made than a little edit to this mod and the bug disappeared!

Please make some test with attached files.

Edit: attached files are for DCS 1.2.5 - jump to my next post for DCS 1.2.6.

Make sure you use the Normal HDR setting.

And please report back, as i need the info because I don't have direct access to a 69XX card and I want to know if solves the problems for you too. - I'm using a 7950 atm.

Thanks Peter but I'm afraid I tested with 1.2.6 on my 6950 and just this mod and had white flashing dots/boxes all over the place with HDR Normal. I normally have HDR Disabled to prevent this problem and setting it back to disabled and they indeed didn't happen anymore.

I also had the disappearing/black buildings a lot but I'm not sure if that's connected to HDR or not. I don't think I noticed after putting it back to Disabled but I might just have not flown that close to any buildings.

OK - my friend had the the flashing whit boxes also back in DCS 1.2.6...somthing has changed between 1.2.5 and 1.2.6.

So he did lend me his PowerColor HD6970 2GB so I'm able to do some experiments in DCS 1.2.6 with the Catalyst 13.4 myself .

And I was able to Fix it again after some edits.

This video below shows the "FIX" installed at the right side.

And I didn't saw any flashing whit boxes any more with the HDR Normal setting.

Please try attached files again in DCS 1.2.6 .

Use the "Version for HD 69XX GPU Users" folder !
