Lange_666
We need one more dude on the deck and that's the one who slams the cable a few times if it doesn't want to unhook. Had 3 traps in a row today (stable version) where it didn't unhook the cable and i had no means to do it myself (ATC said: don't crawl out of that cockpit pilot). The "give a bit more power and toebrakes" and all other stuff i know which did the trick before didn't work either. Just no joy to get unhooked. In real life they have a deck crew member which does slam the cable if it doesn't want to unhook. Can we have such a person on the payroll or can't we afford him? He doesn't even touch it! IF the hook gets tangled with the wire, the Crash Crew has to come into the Landing Area and free the wire from the hook. That would be very complex for ED to model maybe. If you raise your hook too soon in DCS, the wire will stay engaged for some reason. Try delaying raising your hook until all movement has ceased. DO it or Don't, but don't cry about it. Lange_666
Delay raising the hook until the hook light illuminates... Good tip, i didn't know that. But what if you forget and be a bit quick? Once there is tension on the arrester wire and the hook is up, it's game over... Harker
If the cable doesn't unhook, it's also possible to advance the throttle a bit, go forward, then pull the throttle back. The cable will pull you back and then it'll unhook. I'm guessing this is not a proper procedure, but it works in DCS. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs.
