[RESOLVED]DCS "Not responding" in mission loading (v.1.5.4.57288)

Recommended Posts

I have a problem where I can't get DCS 1.5 stable to load missions. I made dual installation to test does 2.0 work and it does, but not the stable. Had 1.5 working two months ago and didn't have time to fly. Since then I purchased Mirage 2000C and NTTR and got time two days ago to fly so I installed Mirage and updated DCS 1.5 and it just kept crashing with every mission I have.

Tried already:

  1. Update and Repair DCS installation (dcs_updater.exe update / repair, as user as admin)
  2. Downgraded to two updates older version, didn't help and updated back to latest release version.
  3. Updated all drivers (only Nvidia driver was required to be updated)
  4. Moved "Save Games\DCS" away (to re-create settings etc)
  5. Re-installed Microsoft distribution package as ED page recommended for trouble shooting.
  6. No antivirus, no special firewall (on this computer)

What else I need to try to solve problem?

I would like to fly 1.5 but so far 2.0 is OKish....

Hi and thanks for the logs.

Please remove any user modifications and run a repair.

let us know how you get on

Problem is that I don't have any modifications installed or even downloaded. I made a fresh DCS installation after fresh Windows installation. And really wouldn't want to throw away third set of the license keys just to get 1.5 working again.

The repair says that everything is perfectly fine.

Moved those directories to elsewhere, run the repair and it said everything is OK :D

Re-tested it by running repair from the menu as from the commandline. And neither worked but kept crashing.

Update: Got it working by moving whole "mods" directory, after that repair function copied part of the files from DCS 2.0 installation and torrented rest of them.

Thanks. I just wonder doesn't the repair thing check the files installed but just the root directories?

It should check the files, but after doing this for a while I have seen some strange stuff :)

Any way, enjoy :)

I believe the "Strange Stuff" comes from the files not being totally removed after an attempt to delete or remove the mods.

The user most likely forgot he added the mods. after being away for so long.
