bartdude300
Hi guys need help and advice on what is best to upgrade my system. I am currently running the new version 2.6.24.37 along with Normandy, Nevada, and flaming cliffs. My spec at the minute are: Windows 10 x64, i5 processor 6400 2.71ghz, 1TB NTFS Drive, DDR3 12Gb ram, Nvidia Geforce 1060 GTX, I use a Saitek x52 and oculus rift dk2. Would it be wise to go for an i7 processor ? Would it make much difference ? Would a solid state drive help ? Any advice would be much appreciated :smilewink: Gigabyte X470, 32gb corsair 3200 ddr4, AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, Ml240 coolmaster, Nvidia GTX1080ti 11gb, 512gb ssd Seagate for DCS,Oculus rift CV1, X52 joystick and throttle

I would love to build a new 2k€ system but not yet :D I upgraded from the 970 to a 1080. Massive difference purely for the rift and I have since upgraded the rest of my hardware. It needs a fast CPU to drive the 1080 to its maximum. I get 98-99% GPU usage in 2.5 :) 4.4 O/C should be fine i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB

I doubt you need more RAM (maybe in multiplayer?), but it's a fast upgrade after you find yourself running out. Solid state drives affect start-up times immensely, but not gameplay performance as far as I know. I'm using this thread to ask is there any point to update my GPU GTX 970 -> GTX1070 or something else.. I would love to build a new 2k€ system but not yet :D Simply upgrading series typically only adds +20%. If you want an upgrade you can feel you should go for a 1080 or 1080 Ti. Demon_
At 2.71Ghz, anything overclock at 4+Ghz will give you great results. The target is 4.4-5Ghz. Remember, the CPU manage the AI, all commands in your cockpit, the bullets/missiles/bombs trajectory, the damages/collisions, wind/airflow environment, and of course, half a core for the sound. I would love to build a new 2k€ system but not yet :D The GTX970 has the same "GPU power" than a GTX1060. The GTX1070 is one step higher. The GTX1070Ti is another step. Cibit
Another one, Skylake and Coffee Lake are not socket compatible. :tomato: I was going to mention that, though it was the casual assumption that DDR3 will work with a DDR4 system. Beware everything on the internet is true  i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
BitMaster
Only 2nd class mobos, actually its mainly LPDDR3, that is ment to be used on Z170 etc. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YOU HAVE TO HAVE DDR3 RAM SLOTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DDR3 does NOT FIT DDR4 sockets, you ruin both if you try hard enough. By rule of thumb, no DDR4 gamer board will accept ANY form of DDR3. YOu have to search for boards that accept DDR3 or both, as said, low-entry laptops have that as a "feature"..ahem :( Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Asus 1080ti EK-waterblock - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus PG278Q 27" QHD Gsync 144Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
