Just a question, for the moment, are you guys using the virtual detente? Works well in my new CM2 throttle!

Anyway anyone would sell me some detents for my Virpil T50CM throttle? I don't have the ability to print anything and would really like a set!

is not the same thing :)

as soon as i get my own (order "in hold" :( ) i'll try with virtual detent first, but when me or someone will mod the detent for the cm2, i'll print them faster than now!

How does that work, exactly? Because I have something similar done via Joystick gremlin, when it hits about 75% it sends a virtual keypress (a vJoy) button that is mapped to the F18 (or F16) AB detent control, so the throttle stops at 75% in game, even if I physically slam it to the top.

To "unhook" it I have to slightly pull back the throttle (bringing it physically and logically back behind 75%) then it sends a keypress to the virtual (vJoy) button and that releases the detent.

I'd be curious if the Virpil thing works in a similar way?

BTW my throttle is a X56, until I can get my hands on a CM2

Yep, works in a very similar way. Define range and modifier in the VPC software, and then you just press a button when at full deflection and off you go into afterburner.

Better than nothing I guess, but I wish Virpil would have gone with the Thrustmaster Warthog detente method. The ones on Shapeways work great for a variety of different scenarios and have a far more cleaner look. I am sure Virpil will revisit in the future because they are the kings of frequent revisions. :-)

Yep, it is better than nothing. BTW, I set the range from 3% to 81.5% which seems to work well.

(And, yes, the Shapeways Warthog mod was great!)

Yeah if Virpil had done that I would probably already have gotten one.

Will hang on to my Warthog throttle until a suitable replacement for me comes along.

Hoping maybe VKB comes through with one if they ever get around to doing a throttle. I suspect the Virus situation may have set them back even further.

Don, just replaced my Warthog with the CM2 a couple of days ago. Honestly, all the extra buttons/switches on the throttle are so nice to have.

The soft afterburner works really nicely. Also, easy to configure the off/idle detente as well.

Yeah but no actual physical detents is a no go for me, at least for now.

sounds like mapping the "afterburner detent" to the F16/18...

In the control settings page for the f18, you can set a software switch for afterburner

Yes, you can, but not every plane has that option. If you do it in the Virpil software, you can apply it to every plane.

  • 1 month later...

This is for the most recent version of the throttle (the one with the analog ministick).

I don't know if this will fit earlier versions of this throttle. The shafts may have changed size, and the grips probably have. I'll look into that in future.

Hello! Has anyone tried these with the first version of the throttle?

I don’t remember reading that they changed the measurements of the throttle handles between v1 and v2...

V1 does have ”detents”, but you do have to use a very light touch not to go into AB when going full power. This looks better!

According to the last couple of posts in the Virpil forum, measurements are needed by the mod creator for the CM2.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!
