Aluminum Donkey
Woohoo! Stuttering, FPS tanking, and general performance-related BS seems to be a thing of the past. I just tried it out in Normandy and Caucasus, haven't tried NTTR or PG yet... But, everything seems to run smoothly now! Especially when you pan around in F2 view, there's no more stuttering and no more ground object pop-in. Awesome! Nice work ED! Cornflex
Same for me. Performance is far better now. I tried the aggressor campaign with the F/A-18 and did not see any performance problems. Even at ramp start everythings runs very smooth. Thunderchief2000
Yes me too, initial testing on the Caucuses in the F-16 and the Gulf in the F/A-18 show much better performance compared to previous beta. not sure its back to how it was before but it is much improved for me so far. really looking forward to trying all the other areas of the sim now. Well done ED.
=Pedro=
Slightly better but far from what we used to have in 2.5.5... Aluminum Donkey
great to hear you are seeing performance increase, thank you for letting us know. It's not so much the FPS increase, which is nice, there is some. It's the lack of stuttering, especially when looking around. It's about time! Nightstalker
I'm happy to hear some users are seeing increased FPS. I unfortunately am not seeing an improvement in non VR. Exact same issue as before the patch. Sitting on the tarmac, 100 fps, truck drives by, 50 fps. Load up bomber escort in the P51 and again, 100 fps and drops all the way to single digits with bombers in the area. Hop into a quick mission, free flight and I'm back up to 100+ fps. rogue221
There is definitely some improvement. I can definitely tell taking off from Gudauta with the through the inferno mission loaded and several planes taxiing and taking off. Average fps did seem to go up but I wasn't measuring. Moving to 32GB really helped me out. I use the HTC vive as well. Speaking of VR, can anyone elaborate on what the VR mask setting does? Is this a performance enhancing setting? I fiddled with it but I wasn't sure what was happening or if it was working. Apologizes if this is off topic.

Silversmith
Anyone with VR tried the new MSAA MASK SIZE slider which has appeared on the VR options page? I've tried it from Minimum to Max with MSAA set to 2x but it doesn't seem to do anything. No image quality change, no framrate change. In theory it should improve frame rates by only processing what is in the headset FOV. That said hugely happy with the VR performance improvement in the latest update, Well done ED.
