[DCS FC3] MiG-29 Complete English Cockpit Mod

No. That "overwrite" thing is just for "Liveries" folder warning. It's not an important thing.

 

Saved Games/Liveries is just for the user mods or things. No worries.

The stock liveries are in Program Files/... ... ... /{aircraft}/Liveries/ folder.

I think all F-5E liveries were in the saved games area because it's the only plane that lost the multiple livery options.

Seeing how your spelling your Directories names may be the problem, I had issues with the A-10c War horse mod and it was because the spelling and case of the directory names had to be exactly right. The MIG with a mixture of uppercase and lowercase letters and with the _ between "Cockpit_MiG-29A":

 

ie for the mig it is:

 

1. C:\Users\Yourname\My Documents\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Cockpit_MiG-29A\English\
   
2. C:\Users\Yourname\My Documents\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Cockpit_MiG-29G\English\
   
3. C:\Users\Yourname\My Documents\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Cockpit_MiG-29S\English\
   

Files in the English folder should be similiar to this with only one lua file = Description.lua.

I'm starting to see some of the problem.

I don't have any of these files you show listef in your MIG-29 file.

All I have is a single .lua file.

Also when typed cockpit_MIG-29 in lower case it's not necessarily how the files show it.

I don't know how to copy file lines to forums other than type them in.

In the new 1.3 version of MOD, No it has been rewritten and things like filenames and position of texture files have been altered, see previous amended post of file and directory locations.

P.S. It works fine in DCS 2.5.6 OB if using the Flaming Cliffs 3 MiG-29, but can't get it to work with the MiG-29 Standalone module that you say you are using.

Don't let "Liveries" word fool you. Cockpit mods are placed in Liveries folder too.

And, again, this "overwriting" thing never erase or delete any file, mod or etc that you've already installed. It's just a pre-cautionary word.

Last words from me; the mod structure is simple and simply you should copy "Liveries" folder into "Saved Games/DCS" folder. That's it.

You don't need to struggle with the content of the mod, description.lua or something.

Sorry for delay. I am in USA in totally different time zones.

I do not have FC3.

I own F15C and MIG-29 as separately purchased modules.

So you're having the same problems I am with the stand-a-lone.

I am still using the DCS 2.5.5xxx version.

Haven't downloaded the latest update yet.

Who are THEY? ED don't do that. You must have installed the F-5 mod there, man.

If you copy and paste LIVERIES folder with subfolders in a directory, Windows won't erase all folders under Liveries and keep LIVERIES' content. There must be a wrong step done by you man.

Because there're so many cockpit mods and lots of users use the Liveries folder under Saved Games to install mods, and we use this installation method for years and years, and nobody said "pasting Liveries folder deleted all content of current Liveries folder, and all my mods gone".

As I said, maybe you deleted by mistake or something.

Probably there's something wrong with MiG-29 Standalone's Custom Cockpit feature, just like Mustang or Harrier.

Yeah I'm seeing where other people with the stand alone mods are having the same issues.

I see in one of your thumbnails you posted showing the special tab in the game settings that there are several other "conversions" such as the SU-25 that originally came with the game.

Is that mod yours as well?

At least for me (using the full FC3 module), I have no problem using the latest v1.3 of your Mod. I have it on this path:

as this is a non-clickable cockpit, for me the biggest benefit of an english cockpit is having the warning lights on a language I can understand quickly:

same for the indicator lights of the autopilot:

Pity that the latest versions of DCS have left the Mig-29 lighting so dim .. I liked the previous version much better:

Hi,

I am not able to get full english cockpit, only HUD is in english after using the mod. Since only HUD was in English I deleted entire saved games folder and did the entire thing again but now nothing is changing everything stays Russian, even HUD.

I've changed the value from default to English in setting=> special=> mig 29.

Anybody else faced such issue? if yes how did you fixed it?

I am using latest stable version of DCS World as on 28 oct 2020.

MiG 29 standalone module, non-steam.

I have Mig-29 comes with FC3 module and the mod works well with it.

There's a problem with standalone Mig-29 module for a long time but, I couldn't figure it out.

One try from me: Install the mod in Saved Games folder, and rename "English" folder to "default".

Now there's a possibility that you could see double "default" folders in SPECIAL page. I hope you'll see one, of course.

Please try both.

Any updates on the standalone MiG-29? I'm a steam user, and I got it to work by renaming the folder in "Cockpit_MiG-29S" from "English" to "default" or "Default" (both seem to work). There's no double "Default" in the "Special" settings page, only one and the same. MiG-29S cockpit seems to be in English. However, MiG-29A and MiG-29G have no textures if the same is done in each folder. So for now, I'm only leaving the "Cockpit_MiG-29S" folder in "Saved Games" and not the others.

Hmmm.

I got it. Renaming "English" to "default" folder works for only "S" model.

Other models' description.lua file that doesn't know English folder is renamed still looks at "English" folder.

I'll update the mod for installation method.

Seems like I´m a bit late to the party, but I also have some trouble to get the mod to work in my installation. I think I have the recent version of your mod, but I can´t choose the english cockpit ingame. Maybe a conflict with the latest beta version?

Semor; no, you're right about not able to select EN option, because there is not.  I forgot to update ReadMe.txt.

Probably the mod will already be working.

You´re right. The Avionics language was set to native by default.
