ED Team NineLine Posted September 10, 2013 ED Team Share Posted September 10, 2013 You don't pay anything you still get a free game and 3 DCS level planes, and if you do pay something you get two planes you likely will already have by release. You have to pay 40 to get the 3 flyable aircraft... I dont think they intend to give away those aircraft for free if you didnt pledge anything, but I could be wrong... As I understood it, $40 will only be 2 if no stretch goals are reached and those are the Mustang and Dora which most of us would have bought from ED already by the time this is released. From Kickstarter Pledge $40 or more Everything at the $10 level, plus a digital copy of all flyable aircraft in the game (this will grow with the stretch goals and possibly end up offering a huge value!) eurofor
From Kickstarter Yes but if you look at the list of flyable aircraft excluding stretch goals: Flyable Aircraft: Republic P-47D-28 Thunderbolt; Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX; Messerschmitt Bf-109K-4; Focke-Wulf FW.190D-9 (from DCS: World); North-American P-51D Mustang (from DCS: World). in combination with this: The free downloadable version of Europe 1944 will include THREE fully flyable aircraft, each arguably more famous than the next: the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt fighter/ground attack aircraft, the Supermarine Spitfire fighter, and the German Messerschmitt Bf.109G. That leaves only the Mustang and the Dora. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ED Team NineLine Posted September 10, 2013 ED Team Share Posted September 10, 2013 That is weird wording, but I cant believe that they would give away those 3 planes with the base game, certainly after release those planes will require purchase if you didnt pledge... hmmmm Yes but if you look at the list of flyable aircraft excluding stretch goals: in combination with this: That leaves only the Mustang and the Dora. ED Team NineLine Posted September 10, 2013 ED Team Share Posted September 10, 2013 By the way, if people already own the P-51D and/or FW.190D will they be able to transfer them to a friend? If so that would leave me inclined to leave my pledge as is... It makes sense if you get a key that someone else could activate it on their account if you dont use it... hegykc
I'm so confused lol... just take my money and make the sim lol Haha I think that sums up all of my ranting about the business model. They wore me down, I give up, take my money and make the damn sim  By the way, if people already own the P-51D and/or FW.190D will they be able to transfer them to a friend? If so that would leave me inclined to leave my pledge as is... That would be a great idea! I think I'll go down that route. Get the 40$ pledge and when it gets out, give the P-51 and Dora keys to an active member of the forum. www.replikagear.com
Mogster
Tbh I think you should only get the Spit, 109 and P47 if you pledge, $40 for the 3 would be a steal. I think F2P was unnecessary and a big mistake.
ED Team NineLine Posted September 10, 2013 ED Team Share Posted September 10, 2013 I'd have to agree, 40 for the 3 is an incredible deal, but all washed away if they are free to anyone, including those that didnt pledge a dime... Grim_Smiles
Ilya's clarification from the kickstarter comments: "Also, a little clarification since a lot of people seem to be writing about this. Here's what happens if we hit our base goal, but no stretch goals. The final product that is released will have the following content: FREE Flyable P-47 FREE Flyable Spitfire FREE Flyable Bf.109 FREE Non-Flyable P-51 (can be made flyable for an additional fee) FREE Non-Flyable FW.190D (can be made flyable for an additional fee) FREE Non-Flyable B-17 (cannot be made flyable) FREE Non-Flyable Me.262 (cannot be made flyable) If you back the project at a $20 level, you will receive either the FW.190D or the P-51 as a flyable. If you back the project at a $40 level, you will receive BOTH the FW.190D and the P-51 as flyables. Now, if we hit stretch goals, then all additional aircraft will be seen by everyone as non-flyables, but will be available as a flyable for a fee. If you back at a $20 level, you will choose any ONE of the paid flyables. If you back at a $40 level, you will still receive ALL the paid flyables on release. If we end up meeting our ultimate $1million stretch goal, that means you will receive 13 aircraft for backing at a $40 level or above. And yes, all aircraft will be made to the same level of quality and high standards as the DCS P-51." Um, okay. Was not expecting that. I can see making one of them flyable to get people in the game, but all three? As for the Dora I'm wondering if this means she isn't coming out until September of next year? But if she does come sooner, I'm not sure I'd be able to hold off buying it just to wait until next September for the one I paid for with the KS. I'm kinda impatient like that, dangling a Dora in front of me before DCS 1944 gets released would be like waving a burger in front of a starving man. Well whatever, just get this thing built lol. Foul Ole Ron
Which is why there'll be a lot of people sitting on lower pledge amounts not seeing a reason to bump it up with the current rewards. Similarly there might be others on the fence who might think they'll hold off pledging altogether until next year and try it out for free. A change to the rewards structure to give pledgers something concrete back in the game above and beyond what everybody gets for free would see a nice extra injection of funds in my opinion. It sounds like Luthier has some changes in mind so we'll see what comes along.

OB1
I think they should just add a whole bunch of planned aircraft so potential backers can see whats to come.. Most people are short sighted and when they see what they are offering (which may seem measly to some ) they dismiss the fact more will come. So they should add more aircraft so people can see that there will be more coming but don't set a date for them.
Ramjet
I find the stretch goals pretty attractive, personally. I think they would be better served to introduce some of those stretch goals along the way, rather than all at once, but, besides that... a 40 dollar pledge is getting you 80 dollars worth of aircraft (if you don't already own p-51 and fw190) without any stretch goals. The further incentive, in my opinion, is that your 40 dollar investment can = up to 13 aircraft. If they don't meet those stretch goals, those aircraft will still come, but no one will be getting them for their original 40 dollar investment. we will all have to pay for them post-release as they are released. MACADEMIC
Found this in the Kickstarter FAQs: Can a project be edited after launching? Yes, you can edit the following content after launching: — Project description — Video and image — Rewards (add new ones or edit those not yet backed) — Your profile — Project FAQs The only things that cannot be edited after launch are: — The funding goal — The project deadline — Your Kickstarter name — Rewards that have already been selected by a backer MAC

It's 99% a yes. Just need to crunch the numbers around a little bit. Going to update within 24 hours. Also going to add some new rewards in the same edit with the ability to give keys to friends, wallpapers, and alpha access A flyable B-17 getting closer? jawzzy
Assuming that the sim is even made. Imagine if everyone pledging decided to wait for a free sim instead. I know what you mean, but I still feel like a sucker financing a full free game for everyone else, including those that want it dead. The idea behind kickstarter is to get start money for a bussines who's products we are interested in,, not to finance a charity. I for one, want the planes made from the kickstarter to produce revenue from those that don't want to risk suporting the game and later be used to make more planes.
