It is written 2.5.2.19273 at the bottom right of the menu screen...

I ran the updater, and yeah it is 2.5.2.19273.411

 

I will try disabling Bit defender's scan SSL as advised here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/557/

 

Edit: I can see 160 servers, including DDCS Persian Gulf, but not DDCS Caucasus. I can ping dynamicdcs.com and have 0% packet loss, but cannot manually connect to 45.27.58.61:10308

Excellent!!! I did not liked the "standard" but the hardcore is perfect for what I look in DCS MP .

Yep, loving the hardcore server. It's a little difficult to figure out what's going on, though. I don't mean there should be aids to navigation or anything, I just mean a theater map would be nice, so I can plan missions. (similar to the standard web map you have for caucasus). It's very difficult to know what bases belong to whom, for example.

when you log into the server, just hop into the Tac Com slot. it lets you see where all your people are at least, and whatever enemy they see, thatll let you see whats going on nicely.

 

Thats what I do it even on the standard server.

1st time playing on server could not fly for more than 30mins (was longest flight). all other crashes were soon after or before auto starting huey, there was another huey driver that had no problem staying connected to server.

 

Running DCS open beta no mods, updated. Did not save logs as they are too large to add as attachments, will collect if needed.

The Huey crashes on DDCS are this: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=213760 Add your reports there and let ED know you're also having the issue.

 

Thanks for the heads up, looks like its just a huey/helo issue. I will just fly something different to stop the game crashing.

I am relatively new to DCS and I am having a hard time figuring out all the planes systems (currently flying the AV8, F18 and A10C) and also the different external tools used by the servers.

 

As a hardcore simmer in the civil aviation side (P3D, XP11), this seems like a good fit for me in the long run. Therefore, I have some questions regarding this server:

 

1. It seems that both Discord and SimpleRadio are required. Why and how are they being used? I must say that, as a VR user, I dread SRS and its 2D overlay. Still have not figured out how I can use it effectively;

 

2. Is this server PVP only?

 

3. I enjoy mostly doing A2G stuff. How can I find targets on this server? Sometimes I see a message about a JTAC. Does this info persist somewhere so that I can input it into my flight computers?

Hi GCBraun,

 

1. with the hardcore server, you must be a "member" of the ddcs discord, but are not required to be in voice channel of discord. You will need to be on SRS and as TheBamse said, its controlled through your in-game cockpit radios.

 

2 & 3. The server is PVP, but there are ground units at enemy bases that need to be destroyed to capture the airbase so there is very much A2G in this server. Players can also sling their own ground units to add to the bases defenses, or to send them to enemy bases for a ground attack.

 

The jtac is created by players and sent somewhere via Combined arms. if it is within 10km of an enemy unit, you'll receive a message at the top right of your screen giving your coordinates. Once that enemy unit is destroyed it will "lase" a different target if in range.

IMO this could be the best dynamic server by a mile, but the symmetrical aircraft availability is a fatal flaw, and it ruins authenticity and gameplay.

 

aircraft make and model is one of the most, if not the most, important determinants of CID. mixing them up nullifies that entire aspect of air combat and situational awareness. the end result is players parroting buddy spike in every engagement until they get tired of it and start assuming information, or metagaming by peeking the scoreboard to track each faction's aircraft usage.

 

hopefully when the f14 comes out it can become a redfor exclusive which would probably balance the factions both qualitatively and quantitatively

Amazing server.The possiblities are endless, if you manage to develop a bit more the webpage with some information it would be so great. The only thing I really miss and its a DCS fault is some kind of dynamic briefing that warns you on the current battlefield state.

 

On question, why don-t you allowed allied fighters on the F10 view? Is it to encourage teamwork?Some times it would be so much easier to understand where the battle is taking place...

If you would be able to see allied airplanes on F10, that would be as if you have datalink on all airplanes/helicopter, and that would be unrealistic, that's why it has been decided to disable it. Afaik even on the 2nd server, the "hardcore" server, you can't even see your own position on F10 map. (Kneeboard markers still work though I think)

Can't join the DDCS Server

 

I can join all other servers and play normally apart from DDCS.

But when connecting to DDCS (Dynamic DCS) server, the game goes to the role selection screen and stays there for some time, then crashes.

 

Also, I only get these DX11Backend errors on DDCS server.

I'm currently in Steam OpenBeta version.

I also noticed that deleting options.lua file in the Saved Games Directory temporarily fixes the problem until I change some graphics options and it starts having the same problems again.

 

My PC Specs:

Core i5 6600k @4.0 GHz.

DDR4 16 GB @3000+ Bus.

The game is on HDD.

GTX1080.

All drivers, DirectX updated.
