Holton181
**************** SOLVED! **************** Hi all, Trying to create a simple freeflight mission for helicopters. Unfortunately the ME gets messed up every time I add a helicopter. The object symbol does not appear on the map when left clicking. After trying to add a helicopter, nothing else can be added, all menus stop responding and I can't exit ME (need to force close DCSW). As long as I have not tried to add a helicopter, everything else seams to work. I can add and edit what other objects I like, as many as I like, save and exit. But as soon as I try to add a helicopter nothing can be done. I've tried to repair the installation to no avail. Strangely enough, this seams to happen only in new missions (New Mission.miz). Opening default missions then I can add helicopters as I like. Pleas help!:helpsmilie: /H Edit: Sorry, realized now this was posted at the wrong place. Can admin pleas move the topic to the correct place? Edit 2: Thank you, now it's in the correct location Edited March 14, 2015 by Holton181 Problem solved Helicopters and Viggen DCS 1.5.7 and OpenBeta Win7 Pro 64bit i7-3820 3.60GHz P9X79 Pro 32GB GTX 670 2GB VG278H + a Dell PFT Lynx TrackIR

Holton181
A thought. Can something be deleted from the DCS World directory (i.e. MissionEditor folder or something), run the repair and let it recreate the deleted content. Could something like that maybe help? Holton181
Removed all log files. Started DCSW. Started ME. In new mission, first added airplane then a helicopter. Force closed DCSW. 'me.log' was created with some errors I can't interpret. Grimes
It is a very strange bug indeed. Which aircraft type are you adding? What happens if you select "add helicopter group" but change the helicopter type before actually placing it on the map? 1 The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Holton181
HA! Well, Grimes, to be perfectly honest I first thought 'Duh, it's in the title! H.E.L.I.C.O.P.T.E.R.S.' Sorry for that ... I fell a little ashamed now ...:poster_oops: Despite initial doubts I did test your suggestion. An guess what? Only the KA-50 causes this bug! All other choppers can be added with no issues. I thought that I had tested with the MI-8 and UH-1H, but apparently not before trying to add a KA-50. One extra piece to the puzzle. Grimes
Try deleting the Ka-50s liveries and then run a DCS repair. Midnight
http://youtu.be/BpUS5F48bu0 A short video explaining my problem with placement of the Huey. I also have the same problem with the Sabre. I encountered this problem a couple of updates back and the workaround is to place the KA-50 or MI-8 first, then change it to the Huey and then click on any other aircraft in the mission before saving.
Holton181
YES! I found out what was causing the problem. @Grimes I did not try to delete the entire liveries folder, but your suggestion reminded me about a problem I had a while back with one of the missions in the Deployment campaign (don't remember which). When loading that mission the game freeze at loading screen. The semi-cure for that problem was to take a copy of the 'Russia Standard Army' liveries folder, copy the files in the copied folder and replace the original ones with the copied! Strange, but worked ones per mission loading. Could not load the mission twice in a row without first do the "copy-replace" procedure. That procedure did not work with this problem though. But I discovered a zip-file in the main KA-50 liveries folder named 'Russia Standard Army.zip', the same name as the problematic livery folder, that I placed there during my problems with the Deployment mission. Removing that zip-file solved the problem! Somehow ME got confused with the folder and zip-file having the same names in the same directory, and I guess Russia Standard Army is the default livery. Your suggestion would have worked since the zip-file would be gone, but then we wouldn't have understand the real reason for it. Thank you Grimes for pointing me in the right direction! @Midnight Even if I did find the reason for my problem I decided to try your suggestion (zip-file replaced), and it worked for me too! Placing another helicopter and change it to the KA-50 worked  Regarding your own problems with the Huey and Sabre, lock in the main livery folder for each aircraft for files with same names as a folder. If you find any, delete or move the file and try ME. Hope it helps. Midnight
Thanks Holton, it was a texture issue in both the Huey and the Sabre. All well now.
