MiG-15/F-86 Campaign Announcement

Recommended Posts

Quick and dirty solution would be to have two campaigns (one for the F-86F and one for the MiG-15bis).

Let people buy both with one payment. Get two keys and let them activate whatever campaign they like, or have the modules for?

Mission Updates

Hi Apache600,

Really enjoying the Museum Relic Campaign with the Mig 15 and have progressed (with a little help)to mission 8.4. I see from other threads that you have made some changes but my question is how is the campaign updated? Is it through the regular DCS updates and how do I check what version my campaign is currently at?

Cheers, and thanks again.

@Branston,

Glad you're enjoying it so far! The campaign is updated via the regular way DCS facilitates their updates (when the game checks the version upon start-up) I checked the released version of the campaign against the latest build that I personally have, and they do match. So everything is currently up to date with the post here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=174511 "

However, I don't have anything inside the Campaign that would tell you which version it is :/ I actually planned on doing something in the next build/update that would show a version number of the campaign on the campaign description blurb.

Thanks for the campaign.

Had both modules for some time but have not been flying for ages.

Purchased this yesterday and looking forward to getting stuck in as time allows.

Just one thing, I don't recall actually ever seeing this campaign listed through the module manager via the game. I only discovered it by looking on these forums for some missions.

Is it listed in the MM as available dlc content via the game interface, maybe I just overlooked it there?

I've bought the campaign, and so far I'm really enjoying it!

Found a minor error in the third mission (Kh-22 Monster): the last two briefing images (#6 and #7) are from the previous mission (helo escort).

Mission #5 (Outsourcing) has another issue. It looks like the UH-60 is destroyed on spawn. See screenshots below from two different attempts:

Glad you're enjoying it so far Minsky. And thanks for the report.

Mission 3 briefing is not an error, you just don't have time between missions 2 and 3 to get a new flight plan, so you take off with the one from #2.

Mission 5 though ... Yeah that's a problem, lol. They certainly shouldn't be doing that. Those UH-60s are just secondary targets though. The primary should be the Apaches nearby. I bet the default spawn location on the FARP changed in one of the updates, and is nwt spawning them in a location when I had a static helo set.

Yeah, it's not a big deal. The more confusing part was

the scripted explosion of all helos after just a single hit. I thought it was a bug, and tried to replay this mission like 5 or 6 times to earn my "honest" kills. Eventually I gave up - only to find out that it was not a bug, but a feature  Maybe - just maybe - you can include a hint about "refueling" in mission 5 briefing? I mean, I loved your idea afterwards, but it was really frustrating at first.

You're right on Minsky, it is a feature. And when you read the briefing to Mission 6, the first paragraph recaps Mission 5 and says exactly that :)

One of my goals was not to make the missions overly frustrating by having them target saturated, and then not able to complete it because of the limited MiG-15 ammunition. Gotta make the missions playable for all skill sets. And I'm not always spot on with my ground straffing.

Mission 8.3 (Marco Polo) has similar issue. Apache is spawning on top of that Chinook, and I'm totally unable to destroy it with anything except bombs:

One question - since this is a fictional scenario, how will I be able to identify friend/foe in this campaign?

Edit - without spoiling anything I guess, if applicable? I've only finished the first mission.

There is only one (maybe two) mission with a proper "furball" dogfight. Most of the time it's just your plane versus the enemy (no wingmens). And each mission makes it extremely clear who and where you should kill.

I just want to post about this campaign. I have both the MiG-15 and the F-86F.

I have for a long time held out on paid campaigns as I wasn't much impressed with the ones that were already available that came with the aircraft I already own.

That changed after I started the Baltic Dragon campaign for the MiG-19P. I decided to try and see some of the other campaigns available.

After much deliberation, I decided to pick up the Museum Relic campaign. I have been flying the campaign for a while now in both the MiG-15 and the F-86F.

Long story short, I am extremely impressed with this campaign. Not only is it very challenging at times, but it has been not only well done, but has much depth. You can certainly fly it, and just wing it and be successful... however, if you really want to get the full experience and really take in all the enormous work that went into creating the missions and multi-tiered and layered experience, fly it as intended, follow the flight plans, etc. There are tons of things happening that will immerse you into a very well done campaign mission trail done by someone that understands aviation on an intimate level and understands that they are creating an experience that at times actually make you feel as if you are truly in the story as the character you are playing.

Very well done. I am completely impressed. Major congratulations to Mr. Apache600 for this campaign. I from now on will use his work as a standard measure on other campaigns I fly!

Gday I am really enjoying this campaign It is so much fun.

I can not get past mission 10.

I believe it has a bug I have attempted it about 20 times.

Every time at waypoint 6 It tells me that I have been detected.

I am on speed on time down to the second & skimming the trees. When I get the detect message I punch the throttle get to target destroy it then get shot sown by the magical SU-27.:punch:

Has any one else had this issue. Its driving me nuts. :helpsmilie:

Thank you highwymn, always great to hear about someone enjoying the campaign, and really appreciate you sharing your thoughts about it.

I've had something in the works for a looooooong time. The story is almost done, but with changing positions at work, moving across the country, a toddler and an infant ... and possibly a job change soon .... it's been hard to have the free time for it. What free time i have had with DCS has been working with some of those community SP/MP missions. Hopefully there will be some free time so I can get cranking on the new campaign.

and lastly, sorry for the delayed response mrmat01. so you've got it all squared away?

I’ll throw in my congratulations for a great campaign as well.

Finished all the missions except for one. It was the timed course for the Radar down mission. Tried at least a dozen times but could never get it.

Was wondering if the Matova paint is/was being updated to the new roughmet textures? Kind of ruins the immersion for the time being as the default F-86 texture “bleeds” through.

Can’t wait for what you have in store for the next campaign. :smilewink:
