Talked to some pilots from VMFA 232 who had nothing but great things to say about the Litening pod. RShackleford Posted August 25, 2018 Share Posted August 25, 2018 Honestly, the resolution on the current litening II pod the A-10Cs have in game is better than sniper XR IRL (sniper being better than litening II IRL) so if anything, it will be better than real life conditions. Maybe it has little more range even if it's smaller than the litening? I would have thought there might be some issues with the Lightening withstanding the violent forces from carrier launches and landings. Its all about commonality. USMC used Lightning II on their Harriers and they want to use it for their Hornets to simplify supply chain. The USN uses ATFLIR and they want the USMC to use it as well so they don’t need to stock two types of pods on their carriers. That makes sense, thanks guys.
