Vista64 here, I am really stunned by the up take of W7. It's really is not that different from Vista as far as I can see, yet it's uptake is probably the highest I have seen for any new release of Windows. Did it just happen to be a the right time for people it upgrade? curious.

Specs: GA-Z87X-UD3H, i7-4770k, 16GB, RTX2060, SB AE-5, 750watt Corsair PSU, X52, Track IR4, Win10x64.

well, I can tell you that Win7x64 handle's the ram usage much better than Vistax64 version.

from experience I have both.

heya, i have xp and i was wondering, is it worth the upgrade to win7 (and 32 or 64?)

it costs a heap and i don't know if i will even notice the difference... I mean obviously it is shinier but i don't care much for the shiny-ness.

It's visually the same but W7 is the next evolutionary step to Vista - it's what Vista should have been.

It's smarter, more efficient, leaves a smaller resource footprint and drivers work. To get an understanding try and install Vista on an old laptop if you have one, preferably one that's about 5 yrs old. See if Vista can run on that. I know W7 ran on my old Acer with 1 Gb ram.

People are always upgrading all the time, it's no coincidence that W7 is the OS of choice for PCs. People have always had that choice, just like some chose to stick with XP when Vista was introduced. W7 has surpassed XP for gamers.

There is another version of Windows 7 besides 64 bits? :D

I use a Multiboot, Win 7 Pro 64 bit for modern games and WinXP Pro 32-bit as a fall back for old Classics like Gothic 1 and 2, since there are no german versions on GOG.com and i wont play gothic in any other Language, DCS in English? No problem, Mass effect neither but never Gothic!

W7 64 bit.

BTW, XP is almost 10 years old and giving headaches. I still remember I had to do several formats a years because it auto-mutilated over time.

Weeks ago , i voted Win Xp 32.

Now , i chanched to Windows 7 64 and i am very happy with this decision.

Together witch some hardware- change (SSD , more RAM and overcklocking), everything is running properly.
