Problem Releasing two GB-6

Rudel_chw

Recommended Posts

Hello,

On the SMS I select Quantity 2, but when I want to drop both Bombs I press and hold the S3 button on the HOTAS, but only one GB-6 gets released ... even tough I keep the aircraft level .. I have to release S3 and press it again in order to drop the 2nd Bomb.

Is this intended behaviour, or is it a bug?

Are you in PP or TOO? If you are in PP are they assigned the same target?

Yes, sorry forgot to clarify that, I'm on PP Mode and have two different PP points defined on the ME, one for each bomb:

The bombs work fine, my trouble is why if I keep the Weapon release pressed, only one bomb comes out? .. I'm attaching a Track file in case you want to take a look.

Does that make a difference? What if you want to fire two at same target? Let me guess Jeff has cheap targeting computer that can't figure this out XD

Frankly, I find your sarcasm a bit annoying ... I just want to understand the aircraft in detail, if on the SMS I can specify a quantity to release, I would expect that just a single press and hold would release both weapons with a 0.3 seconds interval.

Didn't tried it but maybe that is the problem, you select quantity 2 but don't shot 2 at one target but you want to shoot 2 at 2 different targets. Did you try shooting 2 at the same target?

Hi, just tried and no, it still needs two presses of the release button even if the two bombs were set for the same target.

That is strange, i did a quick and dirty test right now and it worked for me in PP Mode, 2 GB-6 on one PP target with one weapon release press.

Very quick and dirty track attached, didn't had my VR setup started so view control with numpad.... :music_whistling:

EDIT: I did the test with quantity 2 and two different PP targets but this will not work because as soon as you select quantity 2 both GB-6 will be set to one PP target(sounds logical to me), you can't change that. In that case you will setup both PP targets to both GB-6 and press twice to release them individually.

Hmm .. maybe the problem is because my Hotas works like a keyboard rather than a joystick, so when I press S3 it is actually using a keyboard command bind rather than a joystick bind ... I will test some more and get back with the results

Hi @unknown,

I converted your track into mission (by renaming its file suffix from .trk to .miz) and on my DCS and HOTAS it works as it should, I keep S3 pressed and the two bombs go away with 0.3 second difference

Hmm .. maybe the problem is because my Hotas works like a keyboard rather than a joystick ..

I tested my mission with my HOTAS on joystick mode and it isnt that the cause, as the problem persists on my end .. ... so, it seems that it is my actual Mission the one with the problem.

Please, could you download the track I placed on post #4, rename it to .MIZ and give it a try?

Thanks a lot for the help,

Eduardo

This probably isn’t helpful but it has always worked for me, even for different PP targets

Thanks for the input .. it seems to be something within my specific mission, as the mission of @unknown works fine on my PC.

Please, if you have time, give a try to my mission .. the track is on post #4 and you just need to rename its suffix from .trk to .miz in order to run it.

Thanks a lot.

Ha, you are right

I configured both GB-6 for two different PP targets and as soon as i clicked quantity to two i can only see 1 PP selection but both GB-6 will release on one press and fly to different targets. I got confused because it only showes 1 PP and i can't switch between both with quantity 2 but the bombs glide to their individual PP targets, thanks for that AeriaGloria

I have the same "problem" like you describe with your mission. The problem with your mission is that you use two different versions of the GB-6, one is the HE version and the other is the "cluster bomb" version, two diffirent versions of the same weapon.

Edit: The question now is if you should be able to select a quantity of two if you have tow different versions of one weapon loaded or not and if yes why you shouldn't be able to release both at the same weapon release press like it's possible if both weapon versions are the same.

Thanks a lot for your input, it has been really clarifying. I've no problem with pressing the weapon release button twice, I just wanted to be sure to understand the why :smartass:

I will now finish my mission, see if I can publish it tomorrow .. thanks a lot to everyone who contibuted their experience.

Sounds like the solutions is so.

You have two different versions. You select Quantity 2 - but you only have one.

The CP classes them as two different weapons, so a quantity of two can not be launched

Hey Rudel, are you going to highlight the SBYS and TAND options for TOO as well? They work really well after the latest patch. Combined with Azimuth options and GB6 SFW it's a convoy eraser from broadside or straight down the column.

I will use TOO with the shorter range LS-6 bomb, but it may be a while yet, as the next video will be about In-Flight Refuelling.
