A lot of issue with our server. All guys are experiencing stutters, rubber banding, stationary ai aircraft. Seems to be only in PG right now and could be the mission. We are changing the mission out now.

We've identified our issues as mission related. Seem to be smoother for me. Noticed a little rubber banding but barely noticeable. Have identified why the mission was causing issues, but will sort that out later.

I have noticed some changes around the carrier (Nothing FPS related).

In some single player missions I created previously, static airmen were close to some aircraft, mimicing a shooter or waving a helo off, aircraft now spawned in different locations than where I had scripted them. When I moved the offending airmen to a safe distance they spawned where I scripted.

In the F8 menu for ground crew are the Salut and Request launch options functional. I can still take off without them. Just asking

I've been running 2.5 before the major fps crises. This is the first update I have done in what... 3 months now?

For me it is a Confirmed. Still bad. There are slight improvements but overall the stutter/frame rates kills the sim. As has been the case AI or even static objects still seem to hurt FPS alot. The movement is just god awul. Things stutter. It is a shame becuase the sim looks so great and all the improvements made over the month are really lacking in the 2.5! Still I am unsure if I am rolling back again.

I am primarily "testing" with missions I was very familiar with before 2.6. Hit. Primarily "Ode To Mongo", "Dire Straights", "Strike Fighter" and other FA-18 classics. I do own all modules but one and can confirm the nil results range across the lot. I have track files but I'm not on the machine and I'm sure ED has enough.

Its a shame becuase the sim does look beautiful. The imrpovements would melt my mind, but the thing is frankly unplayable. It was playable before and I have a new, money sucking machine. One would think it should be at least average for me. Definetly not below average as is the case. There is no way the advertised specs are anywhere close to realistic now, but I guess that also goes without saying.

So I beg ED;

Please fix this guys. Please. I wish you luck but please, just fix this already.

My opinion of this issue is that they've optimised the GPU load a bit, but there is still a problem with CPU load. It feels to me like they're at the limit of their current program architecture, but I'd be happy to be wrong.

Honestly I am worried about this too. I am no programmer, but I've been around the block enough times to get distracted by the lady in the red dress. I can't help but to be worried DCS has hit its limit and we are gonna be stuck for awhile.

Why oh why didnt I take the blue pill...

I don’t understand, COO however announced yesterday a significant change in performance?

No that was not the full statement, they also said it could not be guaranteed for everyone...

It seems clear something like this is happening. Moreover this performance issue should have been the top priority.since the release of 2.5.6 instead of that they kept building on top of this borked version. At this point they should just revert back to 2.5.5 graphics. Anyway I don't see the point in having new lightning if everything else needs to be set to the minimum to have something not even running well.

At this point I believe ED would save time by rewriting everything from the ground up but it's not going to happen as long as people are buying modules...

My FPS are back in the 90's

6700k

5700x

32 gb ram

No improvement in VR, just the same as previous.

Some fixes and improvements on the hornet but new weired issues.

Will report in proper chat.

I got a very very slight improvement in fps in VR. What normally would be 20 fps with asw on (busy carrier deck), is now at 22-23 fps. What I did notice is in the FPS drops. Instances that used to grind my FPS to single digits (escorting a flight of bombers over Normandy) no longer goes to single digits. There are still FPS drops, but less of a drop.

I7 7700

16GB

2070S

On 1080p I'm having about the same fps as before, but the stutters that I got when near other aircrafts, like when refuelling, are gone ... so, thanks for that ED

There's FPS improvement for me but unfortunately it comes with worse stuttering. I'm on flat screen btw.

Thanks for the feed back all,

FPS improvements are still being worked on and results will vary for different machines at the moment. As soon as we are confident we have it resolved we will include it in the change log, for now work continues.

thanks

as I read on this forum, everyone is seeing no improvement. it is the reverse of what is announced....

But wait for more reviews.

Some issues:

1. Mipmap level of detail problems especially with damaged aircraft...you can now see enemy aircraft flying at certain distances with missing wings, large pieces of the fuselage etc. then they pop whole again when you get further or closer.

2. Shadow mipmaps twitching back and forth between different maps causing significant judder and stutter. This was fine in 2.5.5 and 2.5.6 prior to this patch.

3. Ground object details suddenly popping in and out causing judder.

4. There is a distinct level of detail bubble now very obvious around your view point that was not so visible before.

5. Also moving your head slightly in VR causes an abrupt change in shadows very similar to the way clouds used to change popping in and out of view depending on moving your head slightly.

It seems like the graphics engine is missing certain level of detail texture maps. The smoothness is gone that existed in 2.5.6 from March 'til now. Way more ASW is observed. Way more stuttering from texture loads. I messed with visibility ranges and texture/shadow settings to see if I could compensate...no joy.

This patch has really screwed with my VR stutters, I agree with the above. I was fine up to this patch. Cant even shoot doiwn the Ju88!

Desktop PC:

Most of us .

I dont think you can speak for the entire community or VR users for that matter. I dont use VR and have had the same FPS for more then a year now, give or take a few ups and downs between updates. Besides, a product that every now and then recieves graphical updates is no different then a new game being released with updated graphics. I do not expect to run DCS with the same machine and the same FPS in a few years time, nor do I expect to run a new triple A title at maximum graphics in one or two years, its just how quick advances go these days.

In some instance, 2.5.6 has been unable to run decently in VR even with the best PC money can buy nowadays. That's the difference.

Can’t say I agree.

My GPU is 3 years old and runs well for me in VR

Yes, some users have seen improvement, but many have not, we are aware and the team will continue to work on the problem.

In all low fps situations with the current open beta my gpu is idling ~30% usage. Definately the slowdown is cpu related.

Given that ED has now shown they can release "Out of Sequence" Stable Versions with DCS 2.5.5.41371.1

(IE: A stable Version that isn't simply a tested and functioning Open Beta release, but a different update containing completely different items)

Given that a) the overwhelming majority of players use stable and b) its been 4 months since an update to stable (and could be many months more) would ED consider an update on Stable version 2.5.5 adding things such as bug-fixes, DLC/thrid party fixes/updates, adding in the JF17 etc

Seems to me this is a matter of import and would have the benefit of a) showing there is still interest in/support for the majority of users and b) could allow many people struggling with the OB version to revert back to stable without losing their modules/newer F16/FA18 functionality?

The out of sequence update you mention was only to remove starforce and change all reaming modules to keyless.

The team are aware of the desire to have stable updated, but I can not promise anything currently.

thanks
