It seems is more simple than i´had thinked.

 

Only Reaction to Threat = Nothing and the B-17 will keep his flight plan and shooting defensive without evading.

2.1.1 - I Can fly with shadows enabled again - With 2.1, I had to turn them to flat only due to erratic framerate. I can run them on medium again, which adds so much to the immersion. Thanks for the update fellas!

 

Im itching to try this. I absolutely love the in cockpit shadows, and had to turn them to flat for 2.1.0. Thanks for the report back! :thumbup:

Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

I'm curious...have you actually documented/benchmarked a frame rate change with shadow settings? I have a significantly inferior PC to your build and noticed no change in FPS or overall performance between medium and high shadow settings. If anything, the sim felt smoother with shadows on high.

I see infantry units added.

 

The US Paratroopers are working perfect, nice model ¡¡. Also all vehicles have now drivers. And a lot of beach obstacles and bunkers. Great for inmersion on the Normandy invasion.

 

German infantry is not working. They are selectable but invisible in the mission.

I have a question about the changelog. It says that we can now load liveries in MP within the refuel/re-arm menu but we could do that befoe the update. What has changed?

Yes, I provided some feedback on the forum when ED released 2.1 - frame rate was constantly jumping around between 40-100fps, regardless of which shadow preset or lighting settings, or detail on screen. Only solution was to turn shadows to flat only. Now with 2.1.1, the framerate has returned to how it used to be before 2.1- 100-120fps steady, with shadows medium. I will do more testing, but I noticed a marked improvement last night. I'm sure ED are still doing lots more optimising over the next few months.

All in all was a pretty positive update. Thanks ED! I think that now maybe you guys may want to give some love to 1.5. I see some people with broken hearts on the forums and you have been spoiling us 2.1 lovers with all this good stuff lately.

Where did you find the beach obstacles? Do we have landing ships too?

Fog is fixed in this 2.1.1 and they added clouds reflections in the water although they are very much WIP as there are some clear issues with them...I wonder why we don't have yet clouds shadows into the water btw?...

 

About performance, its a bit weird in my case...it seems better in not very busy situations while in heavy load moments its worse.

 

Also, I'm surprised the problem with HUD's still the same and even the green dot in the F-15 is still present.

 

I would like to have more detailed patch notes so we would know exactly what has changed, for example when including/updating models/textures, etc.

Well i think the glass material like canopies, HUD, sights, etc are beeing tested in different approaches so until they find a good solution we will see different effects.

 

Its an Early Access so things are going to change until the final merge.

 

 

Another thing is the defensive fire from the B17G, serious FPS hit when a formation are shooting at the same time. But is so nice to see the Flying Fortress shooting while keeping the horizontal flight. Nice addition.

 

And the Flak is TERRIFYING.... My God, you must use them in little numbers, they destroy a complete formation in minutes.

Yes, I think you are right...maybe making separate test for huds and such...maybe making all the hud's characters "glow" in the same way the world does would fix the readability issue to some extent (obviously you won't see a s%$"! looking directly to the sun though :D)

 

Another thing I have just noticed is that it seems like there are some more detailed textures in NTTR? maybe placebo but near the great canyon I would say they are looking like more resolution.

 

Also, terrain self shadowing looks beter as well as colors (which are G R E A T and much richer) although now I can see how they are loaded(I mean the shadows) behind a sharp line, but guess they are aware of this.

 

Overall liking this update.

Yeah, its still early on FLAK, I think they will need to dial it in more towards the 1940s :) They will get there though, glad to see them put them in for us anyways.

Same here. High FPS and smoother gameplay when alone, but when there is a busy situation, like many ground objects, or a B-17 formation I'm getting massive stutters.
